January

Farmers Mutual Hail Insurance Company of Iowa Scholarship gives twenty $1,500 awards. This is available to members of the Future Farmers of America (FFA) who are residents of one of the following states: Arkansas, California, Colorado, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia or Wisconsin. The applicant must plan to major in an eligible agricultural field and have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher. The deadline to apply is January 9th. More details here.

 

To be eligible, you must be a senior who intends to enroll in an accredited educational institution for this academic year. There are no other requirements other than to write a 550-word essay that outlines your academic and professional goals and describes how your personal experiences will help you achieve them. University of South Florida Green & Gold Awards range from $5,000 to $11,000 per year. These are merit-based awards that are open to admitted first-year students who are not Florida residents. Out-of-state reduction awards are disbursed as waivers that decrease the total cost of attendance but only apply toward out-of-state tuition. The deadline is January 15th. Learn more here.

 

BNSF Railway Foundation Future Farmers of America Scholarships awards ten 4-year $5,000 scholarships to FFA members in CA, IL, IA, KS, MN, MT, NE, ND, SD, and TX, and who are enrolled in the following areas of agriculture: business management, economics, finance, and sales and marketing. The deadline is January 16th. More details here.

 

Applicants must be first-generation college students from an ethnically and socioeconomically diverse background. This covers tuition, room, and board.  This is renewable for up to four years. The deadline to apply is January 19th. Learn more here.

 

The Dream US Opportunity Scholarship awards undocumented students full tuition coverage along with other mandatory fees. Applicants must reside in Idaho, have come to the U.S. before the student was 16, be graduating seniors, display financial need, and be enrolled in a four-year program full-time at one of the affiliated colleges and relocate to the respective college. University of North Dakota Goldwater Scholarship offers $7,500. Applicants should be a full-time matriculated sophomore or junior pursuing a degree at an accredited 2- or 4-year institution of higher education, should intend to pursue a research career in a natural science, mathematics or engineering, should have a college grade point average of at least 3.00 on a 4.00 scale, and should be a U.S. citizen or resident from the 50 states or the District of Columbia. February

North Central Region 9 Scholarship is offered to graduating high school students. The scholarship is offered in preference to North Central Region 9 members, their spouse, and/or children or grandchildren. The deadline to apply is February 1st. Apply here.

 

NATAS Upper Midwest Scholarship awards $1,500 to students planning to major in journalism, broadcasting, or electronic media at an accredited post-secondary educational institution. The Scholarship is open to high school seniors and college/university sophomores & juniors or graduate students living or attending school in the five-state area served by the Upper Midwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. Students must be first-year students entering the College of Engineering at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, for the upcoming fall semester. Applicants must be from one of the following states: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Maine, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Washington or Wyoming. AIST Midwest Member Chapter awards scholarships for U.S. high school seniors and undergraduate students in Northwestern Indiana, Northern Illinois, Wisconsin, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, and Iowa. Applicants must have an AIST Parent Member active in the AIST Midwest Member Chapter, or be an AIST Student Member through the Material Advantage Student Program, who attends a university within the Midwest Member Chapter area and they must be enrolled in, or planning to enroll in, a university for the fall semester at an accredited North American College or University, full-time as an undergraduate student.  This scholarship is available for underrepresented students who are attending Minot State University. Applicants must have a grade point average of 2.25 or higher and be a U.S. citizen. The deadline is February  15th. Learn more here.

 

UMSA Foundation Scholarship Program offers four $3,000 scholarships and eight $1,000 scholarships for students pursuing business continuity and disaster recovery, cybersecurity, governance, risk, and compliance, or physical security. To be eligible, applicants must be residents or attend school in the upper Midwest states of Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, or Wisconsin. The deadline is February 28th. Ardell Bjugstad Scholarship provides $500 for freshman Native American Students who are pursuing studies in agribusiness, agricultural production, agricultural sciences, or a natural resources degree at any postsecondary institution. Applicants must be enrolled members of a federally recognized Indian tribe whose reservation is located in South Dakota or North Dakota, be residents of South Dakota or North Dakota, and demonstrate academic achievement. March

Joyce Ivy Summer Scholars Scholarship ranges from $1,000 to $6,600 based on financial need. Eligible applicants are female-identifying high school students living in Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, or South Dakota, who also attend high school in one of these eight states. North Dakota Stockmen’s Foundation Legacy Scholarship is for $500 and is available for any high school seniors or college freshmen, sophomore, or junior with any major. North Dakota Stockmen’s Foundation Jack & Vander Memorial Scholarship is for $750 and is available for a high school senior planning to major in an agriculturally related discipline at any accredited college or university. The NFMC Irma Carey-Wilson Music Therapy Scholarship awards $1,000. This scholarship is for college juniors, seniors, graduate students, or graduates in an internship in music therapy at schools offering degrees approved by the American Music Therapy Association. The NFMC Myrtle Mehan/Hazel Morgan Music Education Scholarship awards $800. This scholarship is for college sophomores majoring in Music Education at a college or university that has a Music Education Department offering a degree in the same field. The deadline is March 1st. Apply here.

 

North Dakota Stockmen’s Foundation Tokach Angus Ranch Memorial Scholarship is for $1,000 and is available to students who are or who will be studying an agriculturally related career at any accredited college or university. Preference will be given to students who have completed their bachelor’s degree and who are pursuing a graduate education or professional school (i.e., veterinary or law school). North Dakota Stockmen’s Foundation Myron Wold Memorial Scholarship awards $1,000 and is available for a high school senior planning to major in an agriculturally related discipline at any accredited college or university. Applicants should be a member or a child of a member of the North Dakota Stockmen’s Association. The deadline to apply is March 1st. Apply here.

 

NDFB Becki Palmer Scholarship is for $1000. To be eligible, the applicant’s parent must be a member of the North Dakota Farm Bureau. Applicants must also be high school seniors who will be attending an accredited college or university in the fall. This scholarship is looking for well-rounded individuals who have achieved a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better. The deadline to apply is March 1st. Apply here.

 

PFund Scholarship ranges from $1,000 to $12,000. This is a vital resource and community builder for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and allied communities by providing grants and scholarships, developing leaders, and inspiring giving. Applicants must identify as LGBTQ+ and live or attend school in Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, or Wisconsin. The deadline is March 11th. More details here.

 

North Dakota State Fair Hess Corporation Scholarship offers three $10,000 awards and five $2,000 awards to North Dakota high school seniors actively engaged in 4-H or FFA. This program supports students pursuing higher education or vocational training in various fields. While the program encourages applicants interested in careers in the oil and gas industry, it equally values roles that contribute broadly to community well-being. The deadline is March 15th. GRHS Youth Essay Contest is open to all students who attend public, private, parochial, or home school, or attend accredited universities as full-time undergraduate students. The subject of the paper must be directly related to German Russian history, heritage, or culture, and be the contestant’s original work. Use of AI or plagiarized work will result in disqualification. Resubmission of previously judged work is not permitted. The award amount is up to $1,000, and the deadline is March 31st. April

Applicants must be a graduate of a Walsh County high school, be in the last two years of the educational process (junior or senior in college), demonstrate financial need, and must enroll as a full-time student (12 credit hours/semester). First priority is for students from the Park River/Hoople area, however, multiple scholarships are given and applying is recommended for all Walsh county students who otherwise qualify. Northern Seed Trade Association Local Impact Scholarship supports students interested in pursuing careers in the Seed Trade Industry. Qualified applicants from the geographical area of the sitting President will be given priority consideration, supporting the local impact theme of the scholarship. Applicants should be from or attending a university in one of the following states: WA, OR, ID, MT, WY, ND, SD, NE, KS, MN, IA, or the following areas of Canada–Manitoba, Alberta, or Saskatchewan. Gerald W. & Edith F. Wallace Scholarship Fund assists students with a physical disability who are from North Dakota farm families. Priority is given to students from Burke County, North Dakota. The award amount is based on the student’s needs and available funds. The deadline is April 1st. Apply here.

 

Hattie Tedrow Scholarship to High School Seniors gives $2,000. The recipient must be a high school senior, a resident of the State of North Dakota, and a direct descendant of a veteran with honorable service in the U.S. military, and intend to further their education at an accredited school of higher education. Proof of acceptance to an accredited school of higher education is required at the time of application for the scholarship. The deadline is April 1st. Learn more here.

 

The Edward Nesheim Memorial Scholarship awards $1,500. Applicants must be a legal resident of North Dakota and a direct descendent of a U.S. veteran who served honorably, proof of service and lineage are required, must have maintained a secondary school GPA of 2.75 or higher, must be pursuing a degree in some phase of Agriculture, Human Nutrition, or Medicine, and must be a High School senior or a previous Nesheim Scholarship recipient now attending an institution of higher education. ND American Legion Riders Scholarship awards $500 to one High School Senior who resides in North Dakota. The student must be a son, daughter, step-son, step-daughter, grandson, or granddaughter of a veteran or active duty service member. All applications must include proof of the veteran’s honorable service or a letter from the active duty service member’s commanding officer verifying active duty status. The deadline is April 1st. WGA “CELEBRATE THE WEST” Competition ranges from $200 to $600. This is a regional art competition that challenges high school and home-schooled students to create works inspired by their state. To be considered, students must be in a school in Alaska, American Samoa, Arizona, California, Colorado, Guam, Hawaii, Idaho, Kansas, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Northern Mariana Islands, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, or Wyoming. Dushinske & Jamison Water Resources Scholarship Fund awards $1,500 to four students. Scholarship recipients must attend a North Dakota college/university.  Preference will be given to, but is not limited to, students studying water-related fields and students whose families have taken an active role in North Dakota’s water resource management. Scholarship recipients are required to attend the Annual North Dakota Water Convention Awards Banquet in December of their award year to read their winning essays. The deadline is April 15th. TFND Video Essay Scholarship Contest awards $1,500. Applicants should be North Dakota high school seniors, and they need to create a 1 to 3-minute YouTube video based on one of the Tobacco Free ND topics listed on the website. The deadline is April 18th. More info here.

 

Robert G. Porter Scholars Program offers four 4-year, $8,000 post-secondary scholarships to students who are dependents of AFT members, as well as 10 one-time $1,000 grants to AFT members to assist with their continuing education and/or fund their proposed ideas to strengthen and grow their union. To be eligible, you must be a graduating high school senior and have at least one parent or legal guardian who is an AFT member in good standing for at least a year. Children or legal dependents of AFT national, state or local union staff are not eligible for this scholarship opportunity. The deadline is April 18th. Learn more here.

 

American General Contractors of ND gives multiple awards ranging from $750 to $1,500 to students interested in construction careers. Applicants should be attending Bismarck State College, the North Dakota State College of Science, the University of Mary, or North Dakota State University to study construction-related fields. The Restoration of Sight & Health Scholarship provides two $1000 scholarships to students from South Dakota and two $1000 scholarships to students from North Dakota. Qualified applicants must be pursuing an education in a field related to the Mission of Dakota Lions Sight & Health. The deadline is April 30th. Learn more here.

 

Tzu Chi USA Scholarship awards $1,500. Applicants must demonstrate financial need for college tuition and related expenses, must be a U.S. high school graduating senior or equivalent, must have a minimum 3.0 GPA, and must enroll in an accredited U.S. college full-time. May

To be eligible, you must be an undergraduate student at a degree institution with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Applicants must also major in Hospitality Management or Hotel/Motel Management Curriculum at a degree-granting institution. The deadline to apply is May 1st. Learn more here.

 

Gabriel A. Hartl Scholarship ranges from $5,000 – $15,000. Students enrolled half- to full-time in a two- to four-year air traffic control program at an institution approved and/or licensed by the Federal Aviation Administration as directly supporting the FAA’s college and training initiative are eligible. Farm and Ranch Depot Scholarship offers $1,000 to a high school senior who has been accepted to and enrolled in either a two-year or four-year college or university. This scholarship is intended for students who intend to major in agricultural, equine, or livestock-related studies. Applicants should have a record of volunteerism in the community in non-school-sponsored activities and participation in extracurricular school activities, and have the endorsement of their Guidance Counselor on their application attesting that they are qualified for this scholarship program. University of Nebraska George Beadle Scholarship provides $15,000 per year toward the cost of UNL undergraduate nonresident tuition charges for up to four consecutive years, or the completion of a bachelor’s degree, whichever comes first. Recipients must remain nonresidents of Nebraska. Any individual who establishes residency to pay in-state tuition rates will automatically forfeit the George Beadle Scholarship. The Treacy Foundation awards scholarships to entering freshmen and sophomore college students who are residents of Montana but can be going to college elsewhere, such as North Dakota. This is for $3,000 per year and is renewable for up to 3 years. The deadline to apply is May 1st. More info here.

 

The Jamie Bax Memorial Scholarship offers one $5,000, one $3,000, and one $2,000 award. Applicants must have a Cystic Fibrosis Diagnosis, be a U.S. citizen, have residency in one of the listed states, enroll in college or university, maintain a 3.0 GPA or higher, and have photo identification proof. Matt and Joann Butler Youth Development Scholarship is for graduating seniors who were registered members of Scouting during the 2024-2025 school year. The scholarship is for continuing education at either a trade school, community college, or college/university. The award amount is $2,000, and the deadline is May 1st. More info here.

 

Forty (30) $1,000 scholarships are available to high school seniors who participate in the Clay Target League and plan to further their education with an eye towards an environment, natural resources, and/or conservation-related career. The deadline is May 15th. Apply here.

 

Bill Cowden Memorial Aviation Scholarship provides up to $1,500 to private pilots of all ages. Applicants must already hold a current Private Pilot Certificate, use the money for advanced aviation training, provide a professional resume and include one letter of recommendation related to aviation skills, submit a one-page, typewritten essay giving their reasons for pursuing advanced aviation training, and reside in ND, SD, NE, KS, MN, IA, MO, WI, IL, MI, IN, or OH. North Dakota Veterinary Medical Association Scholarship Fund ranges from $1200 to $1500 per applicant. Applicants should be graduated students from a North Dakota High School or resident of North Dakota for two years prior to application. Acceptance to or active enrollment in the professional school of any AVMA accredited College of Veterinary Medicine is required. The deadline is June 1st. Apply here.

 

North Dakota Scholarship awards North Dakota high school graduates who are planning to enroll full-time in an accredited higher education institution in North Dakota $6,000. Applicants must meet certain GPA (3.0) and SAT/ACT (1180/24) requirements, along with other requirements listed on the website. The deadline to apply is June 6th. More information here.

 

North Dakota State Fair Scholarship Graduating Class Scholarship offers six $1,000 awards. This is for high school seniors who have actively participated in 4-H or FFA at the North Dakota State Fair. This scholarship can be used at any accredited college, university, or trade school. The deadline is June 13th. More details here.

 

July

This award is for North Dakota high school students who are planning to attend a postsecondary institution in North Dakota. The student must score in the upper fifth percentile of all North Dakota ACT test takers. The deadline to apply is July 1st. Read more here.

This award is for North Dakota students who are enrolled in a federally recognized Indian tribe and attend a North Dakota institution of higher education to pursue an undergraduate or graduate program. Students who qualify for the merit-based award must be the valedictorian of their high school graduating class or have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher; students who qualify for the need-based award must demonstrate financial need and have a grade point average of 2.0 or higher. AISES Stellantis Scholarship awards $20,000 per student (tool allotment included). Eligible Students must be enrolled full-time and accepted into a college with a Mopar CAP or Mopar CAP Local curriculum and have a GPA of 2.5 or higher. The deadline is July 30th. Read more here.

 

August

Annual Ayn Rand Essay Contests award up to $25,000 in scholarship prizes by writing about one of Ayn Rand’s classic novels. It is available to students worldwide with no requirements other than an essay. The deadlines are August 1st. Read more here.

 

AISES National Conference Travel Scholarship covers the costs of conference registration fees, economy class round-trip airfare, and lodging. Eligible students must be full-time at a two-year or four-year college or university, enrolled in a program leading to an academic degree in a science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) field, and have a 3.0 or higher GPA. September

The National College Match Scholarship awards a full four-year scholarship, worth over $200,000. High-achieving, low-income students can apply for early admission to a QuestBridge college partner with a full four-year scholarship. The application is due September 30th. Read more here.

October

Blue Cross Blue Shield ND Caring Foundation offers two scholarships that are worth $2,500 and $5,000. Both internships are intended for North Dakota residents currently attending a college or university in North Dakota with a major in health care or a health-care related field. Additionally, both require applicants to show financial need and have a GPA of 3.25 or higher. Other requirements may vary. The deadline to apply is October 1st. Read more here. 

 

November

BBB Minnesota and North Dakota Students of Integrity Scholarship awards $2,500 to high school students who have demonstrated integrity, leadership, and ethical values. To be eligible, you must be a graduating senior enrolled in a Minnesota or North Dakota high school, and you can not be a BBB employee, intern, Board of Director, or their family member. The deadline is November 25th. Apply here.

 

December

Hagan Scholarship Foundation awards $7,500 for each semester. Applicants must be high school seniors in the U.S, have a GPA of 3.5 or higher, enroll in a four-year College or University, be relatively low-income, be fluent in English, and meet specific work requirements.
