January
Farm Credit Foundation for Agricultural Advancement Scholarship awards ten $10,000 scholarships to students planning to pursue a career in agriculture, and must reside within Berkeley, Brooke, Hancock, Jefferson, Marshall, Morgan, or Ohio counties. Find out more and apply here by January 5th.
Ford Built Tough – Students who are members of the FFA and are pursuing a two-year or four-year degree, trade school, or a vocational certificate in any major are eligible to apply for the Ford Built Tough -$1,000 Scholarship. Applicants must apply online and then visit their local participating Ford Truck dealer for signature and dealer code. Deadline to apply is January 9th. All students who have submitted an application and all supporting documents by the listed deadline are evaluated holistically, based upon academic and non-academic information provided on their admission application. Academic components considered include high school GPA and academic honors. Non-academic items include leadership experience, volunteer experience, extracurricular activities, employment and non-academic honors. This scholarship has a value of $6,000 up to tuition. The WVU Bucklew Scholarship awards $10,000 per year for up to four undergraduate years or completion of a bachelor’s degree – whichever comes first. Must have a minimum high school GPA of 3.80 and graduate from a West Virginia high school or have been home-schooled for at least their senior year in West Virginia. To apply, students must have been admitted to WVU as a first-time freshman by January 16, 2024. More info here.
The WVU Foundation Scholarship covers cost of attendance as determined by Student Financial Services for up to four undergraduate years or completion of a bachelor’s degree – whichever comes first, plus a one-time $4,500 stipend for study abroad or academic enhancement. Must have a minimum GPA of 3.80 and graduate from a West Virginia high school or have been home-schooled for at least their senior year in West Virginia. The Dream.US Opportunity Scholarship was created for undocumented students who live in states where they effectively have no access to college – either because they face paying out-of-state tuition or because their state will simply not admit them into its universities. The opportunity scholarship award will cover your tuition, fees, and on-campus housing and meals at one of our Partner Colleges up to a maximum of $80,000 for a bachelor’s degree. The award is renewable each year – you simply have to meet the continuing eligibility criteria – including continuous full-time enrollment. Deadline to apply is January 31st. Visit the website

This scholarship is for full-time students who have a family member who currently or previously worked in the coal industry in southern West Virginia. The family member must have worked for a company engaged in the mining and processing of coal and located in one of the following West Virginia counties: Boone, Braxton, Cabell, Calhoun, Clay, Fayette, Greenbrier, Jackson, Kanawha, Lincoln, Logan, Mason, McDowell, Mercer, Mingo, Monroe, Nicholas, Pocahontas, Putnam, Raleigh, Randolph, Roane, Summers, Wayne, Webster, or Wyoming. This scholarship supports fellows’ graduate or undergraduate study at an accredited institution based in the United States. Grants are typically $5,000 to $7,000 and may be renewed for subsequent years. Preference is given to candidates who reside in or attend schools in these states: Connecticut, District of Columbia, Delaware, Maryland, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia. The West Virginia PTA Scholarship awards $500 to graduating seniors in public high schools in West Virginia. The GPA requirement is a 2.0 and the application must be submitted in 12 point Times New Roman font. Deadline is February 1st. More info here.
Claire M. LaPlante Engineering Scholarship – a need-blind award of $50,000.00 to one (1) West Virginia resident completing high school and attending West Virginia University’s Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering. Applicants must have a cumulative high school GPA of 3.8 and a minimum SAT score of 1400 or a minimum ACT score of 32. Apply here by February 21st.

The scholarship is a student financial aid program designed to enable and encourage academically talented individuals to pursue careers in the fields of engineering, science, and technology in West Virginia. A 3.0 GPA is required and the student must Be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an engineering, science, or technology program leading to a certificate or an associate or bachelor’s degree at an eligible institution of higher education. This offers various awards for incoming students who have been accepted into West Virginia Wesleyan College. The scholarship is automatically applied after submitting an application. Deadline to submit is March 1st. Read more here.
The scholarship awards up to $3,000 of financial aid to several outstanding chemistry students, and may be renewed for up to four years of full-time study provided that the student continues to fulfill chemistry major requirements, maintains a minimum 3.5 GPA in the chemistry major and maintains a 3.25 overall GPA. Provides a $5,000 per year ($2,500 per semester) scholarship to current high school seniors who are children or grandchildren of 1) Mylan Pharmaceuticals employees who were employed full-time at the Morgantown, West Virginia location as of December 11, 2020, or retired full-time employees of Mylan Pharmaceuticals, Morgantown, West Virginia location. Recipients must be enrolled in a four-year undergraduate degree program and demonstrate high academic promise by achieving and maintaining a 3.2 overall GPA for all years that the scholarship is received. Tucker Community Foundation Scholarships are a collection of various scholarships ranging in value from $500 to $8000 for high school seniors, students attending technical schools, Tucker County students attending a Christian elementary, middle or high school or being home schooled employing Christian educational principles and values, college students and other non-traditional students (e.g. adults returning to school) are encouraged to apply regardless of their field of study. Eligible counties include Barbour, Grant, Mineral, Pocahontas, Preston, Randolph, Tucker counties in West Virginia. Apply here by March 7th.
Mon Health Medical Center Foundation Scholarships are available to area students who have chosen to go into selected health care professions and meet scholastic and financial need requirements. Scholarships are valued at $1,000 annually and can be awarded for up to 4 years or $4,000 per recipient. Open to the public in Mon Health’s service areas. See application for a complete list of counties. All Mon Health employees and their children are eligible to apply regardless of residence. Apply by March 29th.

WV Invests Grant is a state-funded grant program that pays toward the full cost of basic tuition, mandatory fees and academic program fees for select certificate and associate degree programs at a West Virginia public two- or four-year institution. Students must complete their FAFSA application to be eligible. Deadline is April 15th. More info here.
The scholarship will be awarded in the form of a waiver for tuition and fees associated with attendance at Eastern West Virginia Community and Technical College (excluded are the following fees: book, online fees, lab, and other student fees) for one academic year, with a review after the first semester before renewal. Students must be 23 or younger and have a minimum GPA of 2.5. Deadline is April 26th. Read more here.

WVU Leadership Scholarship is valued at $500 per academic year (fall and spring) and is awarded to incoming first-time freshmen who have achieved the highest levels of honor or leadership within certain nationally acclaimed organizations. For consideration, students must be incoming freshmen who have a high school GPA of at least 3.0. Deadline is June 1st. More info here.
Epilepsy Reach Education Scholarship provides $1000 in education scholarships to assist with related expenses for trade school, college or graduate programs for people living with epilepsy. To qualify you must be 1) diagnosed with epilepsy by a licensed physician, 2) pursuing an associate’s, undergraduate, or graduate degree from an accredited US based college, university, or trade school, and 3) be a student who demonstrates academic and personal achievement, possesses a strong record of participation in activities outside of school, and serves as a positive role model for others. The Michael Moore Scholarship will be awarded to the following students qualified to enroll in Early Entrance classes while attending high school in Hardy, Hampshire, or Grant County. Minimum GPA of 3.0 is required. Deadline is August 26th. Read more here.
This will be awarded to one returning student of Eastern West Virginia Community and Technical College. The scholarship for $500 will be awarded to the student in the form of a waiver from Eastern’s Foundation to be used for college-related expenses incurred as a result of enrollment at Eastern. This scholarship will be awarded to five nursing students of Eastern West Virginia Community and Technical College. Each scholarship of $1,000 will be awarded to the students in the form of a waiver from Eastern’s Foundation to be used for tuition and books incurred as a result of enrollment at Eastern. The Hagan Scholarship is a nationwide need-based merit scholarship, providing recipients “regardless of nationality” with the opportunity to achieve their goals and graduate college debt-free. The scholarship provides up to $7,500 each semester for up to 8 consecutive semesters. Applicants should have attended an eligible public high school for their junior and senior years and be graduating in the upcoming spring and must have plans to attend an eligible four-year college or university. Recipients must work 240 hours from January 1, 2025 until commencement of the 2025 fall semester in college. Application here.
The Underwood-Smith Teaching Scholarship is a competitive scholarship for recent high school graduates with a passion for teaching and a history of high academic achievement, community service, and active involvement in extracurricular activities while in high school. Recipients will receive $10,000 per year for up to four years (up to the cost of tuition and fees, room and board, and other approved educational expenses). In exchange, Underwood-Smith Teaching Scholars must agree to teach in a West Virginia public school in an area of critical need (math, science, elementary education or special education) for a period of five years after graduating from college. Out-of-State Tuition Waiver – the University of Florida currently offers a limited number of merit-based tuition waivers designed to reduce the out-of-state tuition for selected students: Alumni Scholarship (up to $8,000 per year (Fall/Spring, total up to $32,000 over 4 years)), Sunshine Scholarship (up to $16,000 per year (Fall/Spring, total up to $64,000 over 4 years)), and Gator Nation Scholarship (up to $20,000 per year (Fall/Spring, total up to $80,000 over 4 years)). Application to the scholarship is automatic with an application to UF. Visit the website.
WV State Fair Junior Livestock Show Scholarships are five, four-year scholarships for up to $1,000 a year will be awarded to individuals who have participated in one or more of the following areas at the State Fair: 1) State Fair Junior Show – market animals, purebred animals and dairy. 2) Equine Programs – State Fair’s Open Horse Show or Junior Horse and Pony Show or 3) 4-H and FFA Youth Exhibit Program – 4-H and FFA Underwood Youth Center. Applicants must be pursuing a vocational trade, associate or bachelor degree, and must have participated in the junior livestock show, equine show or 4-H and FFA Youth Exhibit Program within the previous five (5) years. Presbyterian Scholarship Fund is available for freshmen college students who reside in the western half of the Synod of the Trinity and who are planning to attend a college in that area. The opportunity is open to students in the presbyteries of Beaver-Butler, Kiskiminetas, Lake Erie, Pittsburgh, Redstone, Shenango, Upper Ohio Valley and Washington. Participating colleges include College of Wooster, Davis and Elkins, Muskingum, Washington and Jefferson, Waynesburg and Westminster. Find more info here.
