The purpose of this detailed listing of Nebraska scholarships for college is to help you plan your scholarship search throughout the year. Please find information below about scholarships specifically for Nebraska students. Some of the deadlines may be from prior years. Scholarship deadlines are cyclical, so even if a deadline has passed, the website will likely be updated for the current school year. January

University of Minnesota National Scholarship – is for residents of any state, excluding Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin. Incoming freshmen are considered for the $60,000 grant based on an overall assessment of the application for admission. Full consideration for academic scholarships is given to students who submit a complete application for freshman admission by either the Early Action (November 1) or Regular (January 1) application deadlines. Recipients must be U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or eligible under the Minnesota Dream Act. The deadline is January 1st. Visit our website.

This is for $2,000. Applicants must be working toward four-year degrees in specific areas of agriculture. Applicants must also be residents of one of the following states: Alabama, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, Wisconsin or Wyoming. Students who are pursuing a two-year or four-year degree in any major are eligible to apply for the Ford Built Tough – $1,000 Scholarship. Applicants must apply online and then visit their local participating Ford Truck dealer for signature and dealer code. The deadline to apply is January 9th. Smith Diversity Scholarship – offers scholarships to support Nebraska’s graduating seniors from underrepresented backgrounds who face financial barriers. These scholarships are awarded to students who demonstrate academic aptitude, leadership, determination, and a commitment to making a positive impact. Deadline to apply is January 28th. Rowan University Brown and Gold Scholarship –  provides merit-based financial aid to eligible full-time out-of-state students for the fall semester. Applicants can receive up to $8,000 per year. Rowan University’s Office of Admissions determines individual award amounts based on the student’s academic qualifications, the competitiveness of the applicant pool, and available funding. The Dream. US Opportunity Scholarshipis for undocumented students who live in states where they do not have access to college – either because they will have to pay out-of-state tuition or simply because the college won’t admit them. The award will cover tuition, fees, on-campus housing, and meals at one of the partner colleges out of state up to a maximum of $80,000 for a bachelor’s degree. Deadline to apply is January 31st. February

This range from $500 to $5,000. Applicants must be high school seniors or college freshmen or sophomores who are residents of Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia or the District of Columbia. Students must also have a minimum GPA of 3.0 for high school seniors or 2.75 for college students. Selection is based on academic excellence, community involvement, leadership skills, awards and honors, and financial need. The deadline for applications is February 7th. Read more here.

This is for graduating seniors, current, or non-traditional/returning students residing in Adams, Boone, Buffalo, Butler, Cass, Clay, Colfax, Custer, Dawson, Douglas, Hall, Hamilton, Howard, Kearney, Madison, Merrick, Phelps, Platte, Polk, Sarpy, Saunders, Sherman, Stanton, or Washington County in Nebraska. They must be full-time students pursuing a certificate, diploma, or associate’s degree in a skilled trade field from an accredited trade school or college in Nebraska. The deadline is February 9th. March

Nebraska Upperclassmen Cottey Scholarship ranges from $1,000- $1,500. To be eligible, the applicants must be a Nebraska resident accepted at Cotter. They must also be sponsored by a local Nebraska P.E.O chapter. This scholarship is based on the applicant’s scholastic record, community service, honors, leadership, work experience, talents, and financial need. The deadline to apply is March 1st. Great Plains Communications College Scholarship gives up to ten $1,000 awards. This is for graduating high school seniors who plan to attend a Nebraska state or private college, a Nebraska one-or two year trade or technical school, Northwest Technical Institute of Goodland, Kansas and Mitchell Technical Institute of Mitchell, South Dakota. Applicants must be a customer of Great Plains Communications or subsidiaries to be eligible. The deadline is March 1st. Apply here.

Big Game Conservation Association Scholarship – provides financial assistance to high school graduates who intend to pursue a degree in the areas of Fisheries & Wildlife. To be considered, you must demonstrate scholastic achievement, leadership ability, and dedication to wildlife conservation. There is one award offered for $500. The deadline to apply is March 1st. Oxbow Nebraska High School Senior Scholarship – offered to graduating high school seniors who plan on pursuing a career in the companion animal industry. Scholarships are only awarded to support education in U.S based institutions. Deadline to apply is March 1st. More information here

Clemson University Out-of-State Tuition Scholarship – offers a renewable merit award to domestic students who have an exceptional high school academic record. Out-of-state students who show financial need through their FAFSA will also be considered for this award. Deadline to apply is March 1st. More details here

This will distribute $1,000 dollar scholarships to female Nebraska High School Seniors who have played high school golf and are furthering their education at a 2-year, 4-year, or technical school in Nebraska. One scholarship will be awarded to an applicant in each NWAGA region (Eastern Nebraska, Central Nebraska and Western Nebraska) with the remaining scholarships awarded regardless of region. Horatio Alger National Scholarship and Aksarben Scholarship ranges from $10,000- $25,000. Applicants must currently be a resident of and attend high school in Nebraska. They must be enrolled full-time as a high school senior, exhibit a strong commitment to pursue and complete a bachelor’s degree, demonstrate critical financial need ($55,000 or lower adjusted gross family income is required), be involved in co-curricular and community service activities, and display integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity. Cecile Meyer Frampton/Cornhusker Bank Scholarship for LNE – offers an award to graduating seniors from Lincoln Northeast High School in Lincoln, Nebraska, planning to enroll full-time (12 credit hours) at a public or private four-year college or university in Nebraska. They should have a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) or a “C+” average or higher in their high school class. Candidates should exhibit leadership, good character, and citizenship, and show an interest in business through their course selection, work experience, or extracurricular activities. Additionally, applicants must have participated in at least two extracurricular activities or sports programs during high school and demonstrate financial need to pursue their education. Arnold White Memorial Scholarship – To be eligible, applicants must be current high school seniors, recent graduates from public or private high schools in Lancaster County, NE, or GED recipients residing in Lancaster County, NE. They should plan to attend an accredited nonprofit two-year or four-year college or university, with a preference given to those attending schools within Nebraska. Financial need may also be a factor in the selection process. Deadline to apply is March 15th. More information here

 

Charles E. Jones Scholarship – offers an award to graduating seniors from Lincoln High School in Lincoln, Nebraska, who have attended LHS for at least two years and participated in at least one extracurricular activity during both their junior and senior years are eligible. Applicants must rank in the top half of their graduating class and show evidence of growth in citizenship during their time at LHS. Additionally, they must demonstrate financial need for pursuing post-secondary education and have been accepted for enrollment at an accredited two- or four-year institution. Chasers Charities Robinson Athletic Scholarship Program – offers an award to one Black male and one Black female who participate in athletics. The award is $1,250.00 to benefit their college education. Deadline to apply is March 15th. More information here

 

David Staenberg Dyslexia Scholarship – Offers an award to current graduating seniors of a public or private high school in Lancaster County in Nebraska that plan to attend any accredited two-year or four-year university or college. Applicants must demonstrate a confirmed condition of dyslexia. Deadline to apply is March 15th. More information here

 

Dayle Wood Memorial Scholarship – Offers award to a current graduating senior of Palmyra High School, Palmyra, Nebraska. The applicant must demonstrate scholastic application and achievement and intend to continue their education. Deadline to apply is March 15th. More information here

 

To apply, you need to be either a current graduating senior or a former graduate of Freeman High School, or a graduating senior or former graduate of any high school in Gage, Lancaster, Jefferson, Saline, Johnson, or Pawnee Counties in Nebraska (excluding Lincoln Public Schools). Applicants should show active participation in school or community activities beyond athletics. Acceptable activities can include art, music, drama, or involvement in clubs. Haymarket Gallery Emerging Artists Scholarship- Offers award to current graduating seniors of a Lancaster County public or private high school who will declare being an art major in an accredited art program at a qualified college, university, or institution. Jane T. Anderson Scholarship – To be eligible to apply, you must be a senior at a public high school residing in Lancaster County, Nebraska. You should show strong academic performance and artistic talent, and have plans to continue your education, particularly if you are pursuing a major in art, art history, or museum studies. Jefferies-Park ScholarshipOffers an award to a current graduating senior from Ord High School in Ord, Nebraska. You must  be in the top 15% of you graduating class. Applicants must attend a college in a program leading to a four-year degree or more. Deadline to apply is March 15th. More information here

 

Richardson Family Scholarship is for $1,200.  To apply the applicant must be a current graduating high school senior or first year college student who is a relative of a member of American Legion District 6, ELKS – Broken Bow area, Masonic Custer Lodge #148 – Broken Bow,  United Postmaster and Managers of America, or VFW District 11. The applicant may also have a G.E.D., be a graduating high school senior, or first year college student who has received services from CEDARS. Nebraska high school seniors or first year college students who have been accepted for admission to Cottey College in Nevada, Missouri and are sponsored by a Nebraska P.E.O. Chapters may also apply. Jamie Bax Memorial Scholarship – is offered to students who will be attending college while having Cystic Fibrosis. Three awards will be given out annually with varying amounts depending on the annual funding that is accessible. Deadline to apply is May 1st. More details here.

This is for students who are planning to attend or continue to attend a college, university, or technical school in NE or western IA with the goal of achieving an undergraduate degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. University of Alabama Out-of-State Merit Scholarships – offers ample merit  scholarships for qualifying out-of-state incoming freshmen. Scholarship award will vary from $6000 up to the full tuition amount, and students should have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA. You must submit an application and all supporting documents. Award varies for each student. Deadline to apply is November 1st. More details here. 

 

Ohio State University National Buckeye Scholarship – offers several merit scholarships to incoming Freshmen who are not residents of Ohio in recognition of their academic achievements. Award amount is up to $13,500. Applicants who apply to the University are automatically considered for this award. You must have a high grade point average, high class rant(if available), and good ACT/SAT scores(if available). Deadline to apply is November 1st. More details here

 

University of Florida Out-of-State Tuition Waiver – offers a limited amount of merit scholarships to help reduce out-of-state tuition. There are three scholarship opportunities: Alumni Scholarship: up to $8,000 per year (Fall/Spring, total up to $32,000 over 4 years), Sunshine Scholarship: up to $16,000 per year (Fall/Spring, total up to $64,000 over 4 years), and Gator Nation Scholarship: $20,000 per year (Fall/Spring, total $80,000 over 4 years). University of South Carolina Alumni Scholars Award (Nonresidents) – offers  merit scholarships for non resident students. Only one merit scholarship per student is allowed. The award has an Annual value: $8,000 + tuition reduction to in-state rate – Four-year value: more than $120,000. You must submit an extra Honors College application supplement to be considered for this award. Deadline to apply is November 15th. More details here

The Hagan Scholarshipoffers need-based merit scholarships. The reward amount varies but the scholarship provides up to $7,500 each semester for up to 8 consecutive semesters. Applicants must graduate from a high school located in the United States. Eligible high schools include public, private, charter, magnet, and STEM schools. Deadline to apply is December 1st. Deadlines Vary

This is for Nebraska high school students enrolled in college coursework at a participating Nebraska college. Student or member of student’s immediate family receiving benefits in at least one of the following: Free/reduced-price lunch program, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Women, Infants and Children (WIC), Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), or Student’s family has experienced an extreme hardship are eligible. This  is for financial aid for low-income students enrolled in community college programs that do not lead to a degree. To be eligible, applicants must have family income at or below 250% of federal poverty guidelines, and be enrolled in an eligible program that: offers a state, national, or locally recognized certificate, offers preparation for a professional examination or licensure, provides endorsement for an existing credential or licensure, represents recognized skill standards defined by an industrial sector, and offers a similar credential or training. This is for $4000 per semester. Applicants must have a minimum 20 ACT with an outstanding high school GPA or excellent class rank. They must also be in a high-need field: Agricultural Engineering, Athletic Training, Biological Systems Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Communication Science and Disorders, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Construction Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering.
