January

The Linly Heflin Scholarship awards Alabama women seeking help with their undergraduate degree at four-year accredited Alabama colleges and universities. Scholarships are awarded annually for four years or until graduation, whichever comes first. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, have an ACT of 23, and attend a college/university full-time. Renewable upon a 2.5 GPA. The deadline for applications is January 5th. Learn more here.

“Don’t Wait to Reach Your Potential” Scholarship is for $500. To be considered, you must be an Alabama high school student. The deadline is January 6th  More details here.

The scholarship provides $5,000 a year and is renewable for four years. To be considered, applicants must be a first generation student, be an Alabama resident, have a high school GPA of 3.0 or higher, and demonstrate financial need. The deadline to apply is January 15th. Read more here.

This is for $1,000. To be eligible, applicants must be high school seniors who are residents of Alabama, Florida, or Georgia and a member of FFA pursuing a degree in agriculture or agribusiness. This scholarship provides $5,000 a year for years 1 to 3 and $10,000 for year 4, provided that recipients maintain a 3.0 GPA. To be eligible, students must be a first generation student, be an Alabama resident, have an ACT score of 27 or higher, demonstrate financial need, and have successfully triumphed over significant personal and/or family hardship. These are awarded to students who are the first in their family to attend college. The scholarship provides $5,000 a year, renewable for four years, provided that recipients maintain a 3.0 GPA. This scholatships awards $1000 and an all-expenses-paid weekend at Princeton University to 9-12th graders. The application is a two-step process in which the applicant completes step one, and part two is completed by the applicant’s sponsor (teacher, advisor, community or religious leader, or a responsible adult that is not related). February

This is for $20,000 over four years ($5,000 per year) for incoming freshmen or $10,000 over two years ($5,000 per year) for incoming transfer students. To be eligible, incoming freshmen must have a minimum 3.0 high school GPA and incoming transfer students must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative transfer GPA.Priority consideration will be given to students who qualify for the Federal Pell Grant and to students who are first-generation college students. This is presented and administered by the University of Alabama at Birmingham for the students pursuing a music career. The High School seniors attending UAB are eligible. The beneficiary of the Scholarship will receive a $1000 award. The deadline to apply is February 1st. More info. here.

 

This will be awarded to a high school senior or college student pursuing a four-year degree in agricultural engineering or agricultural science/technology. To be eligible, you must be a resident of Alabama, California, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Texas or West Virginia. Applicants must have also been active in extracurricular activities and a completion of the financial analysis section is required. The deadline is February 1st. Read more here.

 

provides funding assistance to Alabama high school students who demonstrate a financial need and a genuine desire to make a difference. This organization gives awards of $4,000 for four-year college enrollees and $2,000 for two-year college enrollees. Applicants must be a high school senior or first-time college freshman beginning in fall of the year the scholarship is awarded, be a U.S. citizen, be an Alabama resident. Must demonstrate financial need and have a minimum GPA of 2.75 and an ACT score of 26 or below. The deadline to apply is February 28th. More details here.

pays for all tuition, fees and books for students interested in the automotive manufacturing industry. Applicants must have a minimum 2.5 GPA. They will be awarded an annual $3,600 scholarship (split per semester) to pursue a technical education certificate or associate degree to prepare for the field. This scholarship gives 100 awards of $1,000. Applicants must be an Alabama high school senior with a 2.75 minimum GPA; must have a current Alabama Farmers Federation Membership issued in his/her name; Alfa Mutual Insurance employees and their dependent children are eligible to apply. This was established in memory of Newbern Bush, a professor of mathematics at Jacksonville State University (JSU). In order to be considered for this scholarship, candidates must be a full-time Alabama native undergraduate student majoring in mathematics in their junior year. The awarded amount varies. This is a one-year scholarship. This will be given to outstanding students who participate in the competitive on-site auditions and presentations. To be considered, you must be High school seniors who plan to major in Theatre, have a 3.0 GPA, and reside in Alabama. The deadline to apply is February . The auditions take place on November 4. This awards up to $50,000 to high school seniors within four years, $12,500 yearly.  Applications must have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA and plan to enroll in a four-year undergraduate program. The deadline to apply is February 25. Read more here.

 

This awards range from $500 to 5,000 based on students’ financial needs. The applicant must demonstrate academic excellence, leadership abilities, and community involvement. High school applicants must have a GPA of 3.0. College applicants must have a GPA of 2.75 and be no older than 20 years old at the time of applying. The deadline to apply is February 6. March

This honors the memory of Nancy Julian, a very active member of our League and community.  The award goes to an outstanding high school senior who has maintained an excellent academic record and has displayed a willingness to serve her school and community through volunteerism and extra-curricular activities. This will award up to four $1000 scholarships to students pursuing a degree from a college of business or college of education. Scholarships will be given to high school graduates (or to graduating seniors) who desire to pursue a degree from the college of business or a degree in K-12 education at an accredited Alabama school, college or university. This is an opportunity for members of the high school‐level girls’ golf team, or any young lady with an interest in golf. Two letters of recommendation and the applicant’s ACT score are required. The deadline is March 7th. Read more here.

 

This offers academically strong Alabama high school juniors an opportunity to participate in a short residential program of stimulating academic and extra-curricular activity. Each participant will take one morning and one afternoon seminar that will focus on challenging and expanding his or her worldview. The courses include, but are not limited to, fine arts, web design, film, urban geography, modern legal systems, research science, business, engineering, and medicine. All courses are small and designed to stimulate interaction with professors and fellow students. This is available to graduating seniors of any Dothan County High School. Awards are based on a combination of academic merit and a history of community service. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale and minimum ACT score of 21. The deadline for applications is March 1st. Apply here.

 

This is for $1,500. This will be awarded in memory of Logan Tullis to a graduating senior in Coffee County, Alabama. This student must have a 3.0 GPA, confirmed by high school transcripts, provide a minimum of 2 recommendation letters from non-relatives, and submit an essay. The deadline to apply is March 1st. This gives two $1,500 awards to a graduate of Wicksburg High School in Newton, Alabama, and a graduate of any public or private school within Houston County (including Dothan City Schools). Award will be based on academic achievement, school and community involvement. The deadline is March 1st. Apply here.

 

This is open to graduating seniors from any Montgomery County high school. This is designed to provide financial aid to deserving individuals who have the desire to become teachers who relate well with young people and who can benefit from the financial assistance it offers. Applicants may be entering or continuing college, individuals who are in education and want to upgrade their skills or working individuals who wish to return to college to become teachers. This is open to graduates of any Montgomery County or Lowndes County public high school. This scholarship was designed to encourage students to pursue degrees in math or the physical, biological or agricultural sciences. Students must attend a Historically Black College or University and major in a non-healthcare science (biology, chemistry, physics, agronomy, horticulture, animal sciences, etc.). To be considered, applicants must have a 3.0 GPA and a minimum ACT score of 20 or a minimum SAT score of 1030. The amount varies and the deadline for submission is March 1st. More details here.

This  offers $2,000 to a graduate from Slocomb High School in Geneva County, Alabama who plans to attend any accredited higher ed institution (must be a 2 or 4 year college or university and/or technical school). This student must have participated in a minimum of 2 AHSAA sponsored sports at Slocomb High School, while maintaining a minimum 2.5 GPA.  The deadline to apply is March 1st. Learn more here.

This is given to any graduating senior/athlete from Northview High School, Dothan High School or Houston Academy. Awards are based on the student’s academic record, athletic accomplishments and character. Applicants must have maintained a B average, participated in a sport at his/her high school and demonstrated good character through leadership roles and service to school and community. This is for $1,000 and will be awarded annually to a graduate of any high school within the state of Alabama. Students must plan to attend The University of Alabama, studying in the College of Communication and Information Sciences. A focus on Sport Communication is preferred, but not required. A minimum 3.0 GPA and two reference letters are required.The deadline to apply is March 1st. Read more here.

This helps fund deserving students who are interested in pursuing an education in the residential building trades in the state of Alabama. Applicants must be a resident of Alabama, must be enrolling in, or attending, an accredited college, technical school or university in Alabama, and must be enrolled in a residential construction-related curriculum. This ranges from $1,000-$5,000. You must be a female high school senior or graduate enrolling in an Alabama college or university. You must also have a minimum 2.5 GPA and are pursuing a degree in a STEM or automotive field to apply. The deadline is March 12th. Read more here.

 

This gives six $500 awards to students who are residents of the State of Alabama and planning to enter college the summer or fall of year. To be eligible, the applicant must be a U.S. Citizen, graduating high school senior, and living in the State of Alabama. The applicant should be active in student affairs and/or show leadership abilities and must show reasonable financial need. The deadline is March 13th. Apply here.

This ranges from $3,500 to $5,000. This is for high school seniors. To be eligible, you must be a legal U.S. resident of one of the Eligible States, be age 13 or older, be enrolled in 12th grade in a public or private school (or home school) located in one of the Eligible States, have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0, and plan to attend an accredited college.  The deadline for applications is March 31st. This is available to freshmen, sophomores and juniors who have completed one year at the school or will be completing his or her first year. Applicants must have a 3.0 GPA in their chosen magnet discipline, submit one paragraph stating how the scholarship will be used, have the recommendation of his or her discipline director, and provide an example of his or her work to the selection committee. This awards graduating seniors of any public or private high school located in Autauga, Elmore, Lowndes, Macon or Montgomery counties. An applicant must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and plan to attend an accredited two- or four-year college or university. An applicant should plan to pursue a career in the line of service as a first responder or a member of the military, or who is a child of any first responder or member of the military. This offers two scholarships open to graduating seniors from any Montgomery County high school of $3,000 to $5,000 will be awarded annually.  There is no minimum ACT or SAT score, students must indicate by their academic performance the ability and motivation to graduate from college. Awards are based on academic achievement and need. Consideration is also given to students’ leadership and participation in extracurricular activities. The deadline is March 1st. Read more here.

This offers graduating seniors from any Pike County high school a scholarship award ranging from $1,000 to $2,000.  The award is based on academic achievement, school and community involvement, and financial need.  Applicants must have a minimum ACT score of 23 (or SAT equivalent) and a 3.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.  This benefits two students annually in the amount of $1,000 each from Montgomery who plan to attend an accredited two- or four-year college or university. The criteria requires applicants to have a minimum 3.2 GPA, minimum ACT score of 22 and community service. Consideration is given to students who have proven the ability to provide leadership or motivation to excel in school or extracurricular activities. This offers graduating seniors of any public or private high school in Cullman County two $10,000 scholarships plus approved renewals will be awarded annually. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA, demonstrate financial need (include a copy of FAFSA), plan to attend an accredited four-year college or university, and intend to pursue a course of study in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics. This offers high school graduates pursuing a degree in engineering one $1,500 scholarship awarded annually with determination based on academic performance and need. Recipients have the opportunity to renew the scholarship for three additional years depending upon their academic performance in college. The deadline is March 1st. Learn more here.

This is for $1,000. To be eligible, you must be a resident of Mobile County, be a high school graduating senior, have a 3.0 academic high school record and 21+ ACT score or 900 SAT equivalent, must pursue a career as an educator, and have demonstrated volunteer service to their school and community. This awards scholarships worth $10,000 to 25 exemplary high school seniors planning to enroll in undergraduate programs. Applicants must have a GPA of 2.75+, be Pell-Grant eligible, be a good role model, etc. In addition, a statement video has to be submitted. The deadline is March 27. More info here.

This is a scholarship for high school seniors who have participated at least one in a Dixie Youth Baseball League. The award amount is $2,000 for 100 applicants. Athletic ability is not a determining factor for a scholarship; instead, the committee takes financial need, academic record, and citizenship into consideration. Deadline to apply is March 1st. This offers $2000 to high school seniors residing in or attending school in Alabama’s Jefferson or Tuscaloosa County. Additionally, dependents of Mercedes-Benz U.S. International, Inc. employees are eligible to apply. By the fall semester, participants must be enrolled in full-time undergraduate study in a two- or four-year college. Academic records, leadership involvement, career goals, etc., are factors taken upon evaluation. A copy of the high school transcript is required upon submission. The deadline is March 16 .  This offers $3,500 to high school seniors who aspire to become future industry leaders in the automotive sector. Applicants in Alabama apply for the scholarship under Region Ⅱ. Also, applicants must provide a copy of an official high school transcript, answer essay prompt, letter of recommendation, and SAT or ACE scores. The deadline to apply is no later than March 12. This offers $1,250 per semester (Fall and Spring Semesters only) for eight consecutive semesters to Pen Air student members. High school seniors are eligible to apply and are required to maintain a 2.0+ GPA each semester to renew their scholarship during their undergraduate studies. This awards $1000 incoming first-year students and applicants, under 21. This scholarship was established to provide an opportunity for tall individuals  The minimum height requirement for TCI applicants is 5’10” for women and 6’2″ for men. This is a grant award to be used for tuition, fees and board expenses to attend a public postsecondary educational institution in Alabama. To be eligible students must be sons, daughters, grandsons, granddaughters of veterans of World War I, World War II, Korea, or Vietnam and who are residents of Alabama. April

This is offering a $2,000/year award. This is open to graduating seniors in high school who have participated on a FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) team or a FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) team. Applicants must also be accepted to the University of North Alabama. Priority is given to Engineering Technology majors, but the scholarship is open to all STEM majors. This gives a $1,000 scholarship to an incoming freshman enrolled in Alabama A&M with a 3.0 GPA meeting various other requirements. The deadline for this scholarship is April 6th. Click here to apply.

This is for $12,000 per year. This is for high school seniors that will be attending the university of West Alabama. To apply, you must have a 33 ACT score and a 1450 SAT score.  The deadline to apply is April 15th. More details here.

This is for $1,000. This scholarship seeks to empower students who desire to pursue a degree or a certificate in a healthcare field with the goal of providing better care for communities in rural Alabama. To be considered, applicants must be a graduating high school senior who has been accepted into a two- or four-year college or university and have a minimum GPA of 3.2. Applicants must also live and attend high school in Butler, Clarke, Conecuh, Covington, Crenshaw, Escambia, Monroe or Washington County. The deadline to apply is April 21st. Read more here.

This is to be used for tuition, fees and board expenses to attend a public postsecondary educational institution in Alabama. To be eligible students must be sons, daughters, grandsons, granddaughters of veterans of World War I, World War II, Korea, or Vietnam and who are residents of Alabama. The deadline is April 1st. This benefits a graduating senior at schools located in Autauga, Elmore, or Montgomery counties in Alabama. First consideration will be given to minority students associated with the fellowship of the New Walk of Life Church in  Montgomery. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 and plan to study at an accredited four-year college/university, two-year college/university, or trade school. engages African-American and Black high school students in expressing their opinions and experiences on a selected research topic. The awarded scholarship amount varies. The application deadline is April 26th. Learn more here.

This offers $6000 to high school seniors and undergraduates interested in pursuing a career in broadcast or digital media. Applicants must be legal residents or enrolled in college within the National Academy of Television Arts and Science (NATAS) Southeast Region (Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, South Carolina, Asheville, and North Carolina). Supplemental documents for the application included two letters of recommendation and a one to three-page essay. The deadline to apply is April 25. More details here.

This awards $2000 to incoming freshmen enrolled in a college or university in the SETC region (Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia) who are interested in majoring in theater. Applicants must submit a personal statement addressing their goals for theater study, resume, official high school transcript, three letters of recommendation, and SAT or ACT scores. May

This is given to incoming freshmen by Tuskegee University. This pays full tuition, room and board, and fees. This also gives $800 towards books. To be eligible, applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.7, a SAT score 1300+ or an ACT score of 28+. The deadline to apply is May 1st. Read more here.

 

This ranges from $500-$2,500. Applicants must be a legal resident of Alabama and must be a student whose parent or parents have been permanently disabled or killed on the job. More info. here.

This is given to incoming freshmen by Tuskegee University. This pays full tuition and gives $800 towards books. To be eligible, applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.5, a SAT score 1200+ or an ACT score of 25+. The deadline to apply is May 1st. More details here

This was established by Chuck and Lynn Watson to honor their daughter Jamie who lost her life in the fight against Cystic Fibrosis. Their goal is to help others who have Cystic Fibrosis achieve their dream of going to college and pursuing a career. To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must have been diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis and provide documentation. The awarded amount is one $5,000 scholarship and two $2,500 scholarships annually. Proof of acceptance letter from a college, GPA of 2.70, and supplemental essay is needed. June

This ranges from $500-$5,000. To be eligible, you must be of Korean heritage (i.e., have a Korean parent, grandparent, or great-grandparent, or be adopted from Korea). Also, you must be a full-time undergraduate or graduate student and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. The deadline to apply is June 30th. Learn more here.

This is a $1000 award available to any lesbian or gay undergrad student from the state of Alabama. To be considered, you must be either a high school senior, college freshmen, college sophomores, or college juniors. You must also attend a public two year institution in Alabama. These are open to graduating seniors at Birmingham City Schools. If you are a senior who has been enrolled in Birmingham City Schools since the start of this school year, you can apply for this. Whether the destination is a university or a community college, Birmingham Promise clears financial hurdles so students can pursue their goals and succeed in the future. The deadline is June 1st.  This is a scholarship program for students interested in pursuing a career in ocean science or environmental science-related fields. The awarded amount varies. Applicants who apply must major in a related field and participate in the National Ocean Sciences Bowl (NOSB) at least once in high school. Also, a copy of an official high school transcript, SAT or ACT scores, two essays, and two letters of recommendation is required. The deadline to apply is June 2nd. Learn more and Apply here.

This is offering $10,000 for students interested in a career in journalism. Applicants must be undergraduate or graduate students at a Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU), an HSI (Hispanic Serving Institution), or another minority-serving institution. Other requirements include a resume, a personal statement, and three working samples. Finalists will also be notified of a virtual interview. The application deadline is June 30th. July

August

This awards $1000. The applicant must have some experience assisting DV survivors as a victim advocate. Students must be enrolled in law school or an undergraduate or graduate program in a related field. Must include a resume and letter of recommendation when applying. The deadline is August 17th at 5 PM. Learn more here.

This is offering $10,000 for students interested in a career in journalism. Applicants must be undergraduate or graduate students at a Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU), an HSI (Hispanic Serving Institution), or another minority-serving institution. September

This varies from $500 to $5000 based on the applicant enrolled in the technology-related certification program. The scholarship was established to support adults with autism in hopes of assisting them to achieve their careers in technology-related fields. This can be game/app development, cyber security, artificial intelligence, etc. Applicants must be 18 or older and eligible for employment in the United States. is a need-based, state/federal grant ranging from $300 to $5,000 per academic year. Eligible students are undergraduate students who are Alabama residents attending eligible Alabama institutions. This ranges from $500 to $5,000. To be considered, you must be a high school senior with a 3.0 GPA, have participated in at least 1 of 47 sports, and be a leader in school and in the community and serve as a role model. The deadline to apply is October 17 th (3 PM PT/6 PM ET/). Apply here

This is valued at $5,000. It’s designed for young ladies between 17 and 25 who are developing their aerospace career through college courses or flight lessons. Preference is given to training at AAB-accredited schools. To be considered, you must legally reside within Alabama, possess a minimum “B” average, share Beatty’s passion for aviation, and demonstrate significant financial need. The deadline is October 12th. This will give $1,000 towards their college education. This is in hopes to ease the burden of college and help with the many expenses that students encounter each semester. This is for $1,500. To be eligible, you must be a female high school senior with a 3.0 GPA. You must be enrolled at Auburn University with plans to graduate from the College of Agriculture, College of Forestry and Wildlife Sciences, College of Human Sciences or College of Education. This $2,500 scholarship suits welding engineering majors who are attending college in Alabama, Georgia, or Florida. Funding can be renewed over four years for $10,000 total. To be considered, you must hold a high school diploma or GED equivalent, matriculate full-time in a post-secondary institution, carry an overall GPA of 3.0 in engineering courses, and demonstrate an interest in welding gas distribution. This gives ten graduating seniors with a $2,500 non-renewable scholarship to the institution of his or her choice.The applicant must attend a high school in central or east Alabama, be a graduating senior and entering a 4-year institution, junior college or technical school in the fall, and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0/ the deadline to apply is November 1st. This is a $1,000 merit-based essay scholarship available to all University of South Alabama students. The deadline for applications is December 31st. More details here.

This funds two scholarships for $8,000 each annually to promote the state’s youth. One scholarship is specifically designed to remember David F. Deadlines Vary

This covers tuition, fees, books and supplies for dependents and eligible spouses of Alabama police officers and firefighters killed in the line of duty. There is no limit on the amount awarded to recipients. Awards are available for only undergraduate study at public institutions in Alabama. The deadline varies. Apply here.

This provides scholarships to graduating high school seniors from Anniston, Oxford, Saks, and Wellborn who plan to pursue a course of study at either a two-year or four-year educational institution. Need and participation in ACEF’s Youth Coalition will also be considered. Awards range in amounts from $1000 – $1,500 per recipient. Applicants must also demonstrate community involvement: seniors must be able to show at least 20 hours of community service over their time in high school while returning applicants must have 40 hours over the previous year.  Returning students must show 5 hours of service with ACEF. This is a need-based scholarship that awards up to $500 to graduating seniors from Anniston and Wellborn High Schools who plan to pursue studies in Music or Education. To be considered, applicants must have at least a 2.0-grade point average (or a “C” average), have either consistently strong academics or demonstrate improvement over their time in high school, as well as a desire to attend college. This offers three scholarships to graduating seniors who plan to major in Electrical Engineering or related fields. These scholarships award up to $2000, are renewable only one time and divided across the fall and spring semesters. This provides scholarship funds to full-time students enrolled at an Alabama public junior or community college. Awards are based on demonstrated athletic ability as determined by trials. This is an award to be used for tuition and educational fees for Alabama National Guard members to attend a public postsecondary educational institution in Alabama.The award Is based on financial need. This award is for students who are active members in good standing with a federally-recognized unit of the Alabama National Guard. The deadline varies. Learn more here. 

 

This is available only to students at an eligible independent Alabama college or university. This is not a need based program. Grant amounts vary from year-to-year based on the availability of funds, but cannot exceed $3,000 per academic year. The following institutions are the only participants of the Alabama Student Grant Program: Amridge University, Birmingham Southern College, Faulkner University, Huntingdon College, Miles College, Oakwood University, Samford University, Spring Hill College, South University – Montgomery, Stillman College, U.S. Sports Academy, and University of Mobile.
