Colorado Scholarships

Important Note: The purpose of this detailed listing is to help you plan your scholarship search throughout the year. Please find information below about scholarships for Colorado students. Some of the deadlines may be from prior years. Scholarship deadlines are cyclical, so even if a deadline has passed, the website will likely be updated for the 2023-24 cycle. January

This offers up to $6,000 for young engineers. In order to apply, you must pursue an ABET-accredited bachelor’s degree in engineering, maintain full-time enrollment at an accredited Colorado university, show interest in engineering, and have relevant work experience in the last three years. February

is for full-time undergraduate students enrolled in a manufacturing engineering or technology degree program at one of the following Colorado universities: All of the campuses of Colorado State University and the University of Colorado are eligible to apply for the scholarship. The awarded amount varies. Applicants for the scholarship must have completed at least 30 college credits and must be interested in pursuing a career in engineering or engineering technology.   • rewards $4,700 per student per year. This money may only be used for the costs of attending school, therefore, it can be used for four-year, two-year, or trade programs at accredited colleges, universities, community colleges, and vocational schools. Applicants must be between the ages of 16 – 25, have a high school diploma, GED, or be a high school senior, they must maintain a GPA of 2.0, and must be a child or dependent of a worker who was injured or killed in a compensable work-related accident during the course and scope of employment with a Colorado-based employer and was entitled to receive benefits under the Colorado Workers’ Compensation Act.   • are only available to students who plan to attend college at Redstone in Broomfield, Colorado in the Avionics program only. These scholarships are for tuition only. This is a merit-based $1,000 scholarship for college students. Applications open in October. The deadline to apply is February 15th. Find out more here.

 

  • Students attending Westwood College in Broomfield, Colorado are eligible to apply. This scholarship can only be used for tuition costs. Scholarships are awarded without regard to sex, race, creed, religion, age or country of origin.  All scholarships are based on merit with restrictions. Lastly, applicants must have at least a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 point scale to apply for the scholarship. The deadline to apply is February 15th. Learn more here.

 

 Accepted applicants may receive up to $3,000. This scholarship is not renewable, however, applicants can re-apply for up to 4 years. In order to be eligible, you must be the dependent son or daughter of a full-time or part-time employee of Simon Property Group who has been employed for at least one year, be 23 years old or younger, Be a high school senior or current college student planning to enroll in full-time; undergraduate study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational/technical school.   • offers Scholarships to Colorado high school graduates that will be or are attending the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, the University of Nebraska at Kearney, or the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Applicants are picked based on their GPA, involvement in activities including Coloradans for Nebraska activities, the field of study/college, letters of reference, neatness, completeness of answers, and more. The committee is looking for the best well-rounded students, not just the ones with the best GPA from the applications received with all required information. The deadline to apply is February 24th.   • Mrs. Boland established this fund to award an annual scholarship to graduating seniors from each of the four original high schools in the Poudre School District. Specifically, those needing financial assistance in the first year of higher learning. They award a $1,500 scholarship. The deadline to apply is February 28th. Learn more here.




helps support graduating seniors and families from any Fort Collins high school who cannot afford to attend college or a vocational school. Applicants must be a graduating senior who is enrolled in a post-secondary institution or vocational school and is in the top half of their class. It is necessary that you write an essay about your post-secondary plans, career goals, and why you picked those choices when applying. This is a need-based scholarship.   •  is a $1,000 need-based fund that supports high school seniors from Colorado’s Morgan, Washington, Logan, Yuma, Phillips, and Sedgwick counties in the Eastern Plains. Preference is given to students focusing on their post-secondary pursuits in education majors. In order to apply, you must have earned a high school diploma or GED, Intend to maintain a 12-credit course load at Colorado colleges, provide proof of a cumulative GPA above 3.0, and demonstrate financial need but not Pell Grant eligibility.   • The Thurgood Marshall College Fund and the Sallie Mae Fund come together to provide financial aid to exceptional students attending authorized post-secondary schools. Twenty-five students who have completed a two-year, four-year, or trade/vocational certificate/certification program will be chosen to earn a scholarship worth up to $10,000.00. Applicants must be high school seniors planning to enroll as  full-time students at an accredited post-secondary institution or continuous education program, be a US citizen or permanent resident, be Pell Grant-eligible, and be a diverse candidate or from an underserved community.   • awards $1000-$5000 to any hard working and qualifying students in Boulder county. A simple generic application is to be filled out and the student could be matched with a corresponding award . The deadline to apply is February 28th. Learn more here.

 

March

gives out a merit based scholarship. The amount varies. In order to apply, you must be a Colorado resident, of Hispanic heritage or actively involved in the Hispanic community, going to an accredited college, university or vocational school, and have a minimum GPA of 3.0.   • presents $2,750 to graduate students from Arizona, Colorado, Montana, New Mexico, North Dakota, Texas, Utah, and Wyoming. This scholarship is designed to help individuals’ advancement in the coal mining industry. The deadline to apply is March 1st. Find out more here.




  •  Students entering their junior or senior year at a four-year school are eligible for the Rocky Mountain Coal Mining Engineering/Geology Scholarship. Students must be citizens of the United States and residents of one of the RMCMI’s eight member states, which are Arizona, Colorado, Montana, New Mexico, North Dakota, Texas, Utah, and Wyoming.   • awards $5,000 scholarships to 8 students who are committed to helping others. $2500 will be available the first year of school. The remainder will be available in following years if the student is in good standing. The scholarship funds can only be used for books, and tuition, and will be issued directly to the school. You must have a gpa of 2.75 or higher. Lastly you can use the scholarship towards any college, university, community college, or qualified trade school. The application is due March 1st. Students 21 and under about to enter their 1st year of college are eligible to apply. Furthermore, in order to apply the applicant must meet the height requirements of TCI which is  5′ 10″ (178 cm) for women, and 6′ 2″ (188 cm) for men. TCI Foundation awards multiple scholarships of up to $1000 each. The deadline to apply is March 1st. Learn more here.

Elevations Foundation awards the Don E. Neuburger Memorial Scholarship. Applicants must be high school seniors in an accredited highschool in Colorado’s Thompson School District. This scholarship rewards $500 – $5,000. The deadline to apply is March 1st. Learn more here.

This scholarship is given to seniors in the Poudre School District who have a 3.5 GPA or higher and want to continue their education in Colorado after high school. Applicants must aim to pursue a degree in business, finance, or economics, additional preference will be given to those seeking a degree in real estate. Lastly, applicants must demonstrate financial need. The deadline to apply is March 8th. Learn more here.

  •  offers $500 – $2,000 per year in awards. Their goal is to raise awareness of career opportunities in the mental health field. Applicants must be majoring in Psychology. Essay and recommendations are required. The application must be postmarked no later than March 10th. Learn more here.

 

The NIADA Foundation sponsors four students each year who have displayed outstanding abilities in education, leadership and service in the community. Sponsored students receive a $3,500 scholarship to the college or university of their choice. The application must be postmarked no later than March 12th. Learn more here.

gives out $40,000 to $50,000 in scholarships. Only African American Colorado high school seniors who will be attending college in the fall are eligible for the Sachs Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship. Applicants must have lived in Colorado for at least five years, and they must have a 3.0 GPA. The deadline to apply is March 15th. Learn more here.

  • offers scholarships to Colorado residents that are pursuing a career in horticulture or related fields. In order to apply, Applicants must be attending a college or university in Colorado. The scholarships include a full-ride, ungraduated, or graduate scholarship. The deadline to apply is March 15th. Learn more here.

 

awards $1,000 to college-bound seniors who’ve overcome a cancer diagnosis. Applicants must submit a transcript, ACT/SAT scores, medical verification, and a 500-word essay describing how cancer developed their character. Survivors can also receive the American Cancer Society’s Great West Division Scholarship.The deadline is March 15th @ 5PM. Learn more here.

  • The Alexander Foundation is a public non-profit, philanthropic organization. They have three education scholarships, dedicated to caring for the LGBTQIA+ community to overcome barriers they may face in pursuit of academic success. In order to apply, applicants must be part of the LGBTQIA+ community, be a Colorado resident, and be pursuing a degree at an accredited institution of higher education in the state of Colorado. Applicants may receive up to $1,000. In order to apply you must be a Colorado resident and go to school based in Colorado, be between 17 to 40 years old, carry a course load of at least 9 credit hours, and have good academic progress. The deadline to apply is March 31st. Learn more here.

applicants can receive scholarships ranging from $500 to $10,000. Applicants must be High school seniors with a GPA of 2.5 or higher with plans to attend an accredited a year college and they must submit an innovative and risk-taking creative drawing, painting, sculpture, dance, theatrical production, or musical composition along with a 500-word essay description of the project. Amounts vary. Eligible candidates must be Colorado residents from ages 16-25. Individuals under 18 need parental consent. Furthermore, you must provide your school report cards and have a GPA of 3.0. The deadline to apply is March 31st. Learn more here.

April

is designed to support students interested in pursuing careers in the Seed Trade Industry. This scholarship awards $2,000. Applicants must be undergraduates enrolled in an eligible four-year college or university or graduate students enrolled in an accredited university’s thesis-based graduate program, have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, and be residents of Colorado or Nebraska.   • The CBC Spouses Visual Arts Scholarship helps African-American and Black students pursue degrees in the visual arts. Architecture, pottery, drawing, fashion, graphic design, illustration, interior design, painting, photography, sketching, video production, and so on are examples of visual arts. Eligible candidates must have a 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale and they must be enrolled full-time in an authorized academic institution. The deadline to apply is April 14th. Learn more here.

 

  • gives out a $1,000 scholarship to high school seniors who’ve successfully managed to live with diabetes. This is a merit-based scholarship for full-time freshmen who have been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, reside in Colorado for at least 12 months, and show active involvement in the diabetes community. The awarded amount varies.This competition allows academically gifted and highly driven high school juniors and seniors a chance to address a topic that reflects some of our communities most important challenges through an essay.   • The CBC Spouses Performing Arts Scholarship provides financial aid to African-American or Black students pursuing a degree in the performing arts. Theater, drama, comedy, music, dance, opera, marching bands, and other forms of performance art are all examples of performing arts. Eligible candidates must have a 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale and they must be enrolled full-time in an authorized academic institution. The deadline to apply is April 28th. Learn more here.

 

  • The Western Colorado Horticultural Society (WCHS) awards a $1,000 scholarship to a Western Colorado student who wants to pursue a career in the horticulture business. A single scholarship is offered annually to a student who the WCHS board believes will remain in the industry and contribute to and/or lead the industry’s future. The deadline to apply is April 28th.   • Awards $1,200. The Western Governors’ Association is pleased to introduce “Celebrate the West,” a regional art competition in which high school students are challenged to create pieces inspired by their home state. The tournament is only open to kids in high school and homeschooled students. Furthermore, students participating must be in a school in Alaska, American Samoa, Arizona, California, Colorado, Guam, Hawaii, Idaho, Kansas, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Northern Mariana Islands, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, or Wyoming.   • awards at least one $1,000 scholarship to an Aurora resident who is currently enrolled in or plans to enroll at an accredited Colorado college or university. This year 5 applicants would be awarded $2,500. The student must have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA. As it is a local scholarship supported by various fundraisers, they often give out more than one scholarship. The deadline to apply is April 30th. Learn more here.

 

May

gives out up to $5,000 to undergraduate and graduate students stepping outside traditional clinical-related professions for administration. Applicants need to submit a brief narrative, resume, transcript, and three recommendations. The deadline to apply is May 1st. Learn more here.

  •  The Colorado State Fair Fiesta Queen Pageant selects an ambassador to represent the diverse Hispanic population and culture at the Colorado State Fair and provides scholarships to highly qualified young women who will serve as the Fiesta Queen and her Court.The Fiesta Committee will award a grand prize scholarship in the amount of $4,000 to the Fiesta Queen, $2,200 to her first attendant, $1,800 to her second attendant, and $1,500 to her third attendant. The candidate chosen as Miss Congeniality will be awarded a trophy and a $500 prize. The awards will be payable to any Colorado institution of higher learning, upon proof of full-time enrollment.   • AISES for the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Foundation (BNSF) awards $10,000 in scholarships. This scholarship is available for American Indian high school seniors with a GPA of 3.0  or higher. These students must also reside in one of the 23 states serviced by the Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Pacific Corporation and its affiliated companies. These states include Arizona, California, Colorado, Kansas, Minnesota, Montana, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Washington, Arkansas, Louisiana, Utah, Nevada, Wyoming, Illinois, Missouri, Nebraska, Wisconsin, or Iowa. June

 awards seven $1,000 scholarships. Each scholarship is a one-time, non-renewable award. This scholarship application requires several written components and documents that need to be uploaded to the application. Applicants must be high school graduating seniors, and meet one of the following requirements; student of color, be the first generation to attend college, and/or be a student with financial need. Furthermore, applicants must have a minimum cumulative high school grade point average of 2.80 and must be going to a 2-year or 4-year Colorado college or university. The scholarship amount varies as there are several different kinds and each has its own criteria. There are two scholarship opportunities available through the Colorado Hospitality Scholarship Program. Each scholarship is provided by Colorado’s top trade group and is intended to assist students seeking degrees in the hospitality and tourism industry at qualified four-year universities or colleges.   • offers $1,000 President’s Scholarships to local high school graduates applying to Colorado Mountain College as first-year students. Applicants must be recent graduates of a high school in the CMC district, register as full-time student, and complete the FAFSA. The deadline to apply is July 15th. Learn more here.

 

August

September

This scholarship program gives financial help to NOSB students who wish to pursue a post-secondary degree in an ocean or marine-related field. In order to apply, applicants must have participated in NOSB at least once, must have plans to pursue a career in the marine-related field, must demonstrate academic success, and graduate high school. is a highly competitive scholarship that provides full tuition coverage for high school seniors from low-income households and minorities who demonstrate excellent academic standing. Students must be planning to enroll in a full-time accredited college or university in the United States. Applicants must be from at least one of the following ethnicities; African-American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian & Pacific Islander American, or Hispanic American. Other requirements include being a US citizen, national, or permanent resident and having a GPA of 3.3. The deadline to apply is September 15th. Read more here.

  • awards $5,000 to students in the first two quarters ($2,500 per quarter) plus a new ESP guitar. Applicants must be planning to enroll or enrolled in a Musicians Institute program studying an Associate of Arts and Bachelor of Music in Performance (Guitar) Program. Students who are international students and U.S. citizens are eligible to apply. Also, a YouTube video of applicants performing 3 songs in the Rock genre on the electric or acoustic guitar is required upon applying. The deadline to apply is September 22nd. More info here. 

 

  • awards $5,000 to deserving cardiac care nurses or nursing students pursuing a career in cardiac care to provide better care for congenital heart defect patients. Applicants must submit a current version of their resume and answer two prompted questions found on the application. The deadline to apply is September 30th. Apply here.

 

October

  •  collaborates with 11 Western states and territories to provide tuition help to students pursuing careers in 10 health fields ranging from optometry to dentistry to veterinary medicine. Through  WICHE PSEP, a student can save $34,100 to $133,600 on tuition over the duration of their health degree study. The deadline to apply is October 15th. Learn more here.

 

provides a four-year college scholarship. The amount varies depending on the student’s expected Family Contribution (EFC) and their choice of school. The scholarship pays up to $25,000 per year toward the student’s college tuition, after their EFC, other scholarships, and financial aid. Eligible candidates’ parent(s) or legal guardian(s) must have an Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) of $85,000 or less. Candidates must also be permanent US residents and a high school senior graduating from a school in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, or Wyoming. They must have a  GPA of 3.0  and have a minimum SAT Math score of 490 and a minimum Evidence-Based Reading & Writing score of 490 or a minimum ACT score of 18 in each category. November

  • The Dean’s Scholarship is a four-year Indiana University Academic Scholarship offered to first-time incoming freshman out-of-state students who have excelled academically. Their award amount ranges from $1,000 – $8,000. The deadline to apply is November 1st.  Learn more here.

 

  • $1,000 Scholarship gives out 500 $1,000 scholarships. Students who are pursuing a two-year or four-year degree in any major are eligible to apply for the Ford Built Tough – $1,000 Scholarship. Application opens November 1st. Learn more here. 

 

  •  Applicants must be a graduating high school senior with a GPA of 3.5 or above planning to attend a four-year accredited academic institution. Furthermore, they must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident and a legal resident of Colorado, Georgia, Illinois, or North Carolina and demonstrate financial need. Green House Scholars program wants students who have good leadership skills, and a strong interest in and commitment to their community. The application has 4 rounds and rewards $20,000 in scholarships. The deadlines vary starting with November 21st. Learn more here.

 

 Invites students to write a 750-1250 word essay for a chance to win a cash scholarship toward their education. There will be one grand prize scholarship of $1000 and two semi-finalist scholarships of $500 awarded. Eligible students are self-identified as Black, Indigenous, and/or a Person of Color and they must live in Utah, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, or a Tribal Nation in the region. Lastly, applicants must also be enrolled at least half-time as an undergraduate at a college, university, technical school, or vocational institution. The deadline to apply is November 29th. December

is offering a $5,000 scholarship to any student with a genuine interest in the fields of water distribution, water quality, water reclamation, or water reuse in honor of its over 100 years of serving the Colorado people. The deadline to apply is December 20th. Learn more here.

Deadline Varies

is a scholarship for incoming non-resident students who plan to attend Boise State University in the fall or spring semester. The award amount covers 150% of resident tuition, and it is estimated that students can save $14,661 annually. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and reside in Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Montana, Nevada, New  Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, etc. A 3.90+ GPA is required. The application deadline is October 1 for the spring semester and December 15 for the fall semester. More info here.

  • This scholarship fund supports students with hearing or other physical hardships who have a love for education. In order to apply, you must live or attend school in either Windsor, Colorado; Conroe, Texas; Wilkinson County, Mississippi; Baton Rouge, Louisiana; or West Feliciana Parish, Louisiana. Furthermore, you must be enrolling full-time into an accredited college or university. The scholarship is a four-year prize worth $1,500 per semester for eight consecutive semesters, totaling $12,000. The deadline varies. Learn more here.

This scholarship is awarded to admitted freshmen based on an overall evaluation of their freshman admissions application.   • is a merit-based scholarship for incoming students at the University of New Mexico who are non-resident applicants. Residents of  Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, North Dakota, Nevada, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, or Wyoming  are eligible to apply.   • is a merit-based award for new students at the University of New Mexico who are non-resident applicants. Residents of  Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, or Wyoming are eligible to apply. A cumulative 3.0 GPA is required, as well as an ACT score of 19 or an SAT score of 990. The Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education administers a regional tuition-discount arrangement. WUE allows students from one of 16 WICHE states and territories in the Western United States to enroll as nonresidents in one of 160+ participating public colleges and universities and pay 150 percent or less of resident tuition.   • The Wm. C. “Bill” Sterner Memorial Scholarship is for high school seniors attending an accredited Colorado high school who are applying and preparing to attend the University of Colorado at Boulder. The deadline varies. Learn more here.

 

  • The scholarship amount varies. This is offered by the Colorado Department of Higher Education. This is a need-based program offering assistance to students enrolled in a graduate program.  is offered by the Colorado Department of Higher Education and is a need-based grant offered to students enrolled at least half time in a degree- or certificate-seeking program. There are no requirements but You must be a Colorado resident. They offer $2,000. The deadline varies. Learn more here.

  •  is offered by the Colorado Department of Higher Education and is a scholarship for military families. The amount varies. Dependents of Colorado law enforcement officers, firefighters, and national guard members killed or crippled in the line of duty, as well as dependents of prisoners of war or service personnel reported as missing in action, are eligible for tuition and on-campus lodging and board.   • provides resources and financial support to low-income first-generation high school students to pursue and complete a college education. SCHOLARS wants to elevate the success of first-generation students by helping them successfully get admitted to a quality four-year college, maximize their financial aid potential, and obtain a Bachelor’s Degree.  award amount varies each cycle. Colorado GEAR UP has been awarding scholarships to students since 2004 and has helped students enroll in over 200 colleges and universities across the country. In order to apply, students must have completed the Colorado GEAR UP program in high school, have a high school diploma or GED, be under 23 years old at the time of the first scholarship disbursement, attend a Title IV, Pell-eligible institution of higher education, complete the Free Application for Federal Financial Aid (FAFSA), and have a complete financial aid file with the college.   • Students entering their junior or senior year at a four-year school are eligible for the Rocky Mountain Coal Mining Engineering/Geology Scholarship. Students must be citizens of the United States and residents of one of the RMCMI’s eight member states, which are Arizona, Colorado, Montana, New Mexico, North Dakota, Texas, Utah, and Wyoming. In order to be eligible applicants must be Colorado residents with plans to attend an accredited college or university as an undergraduate taking at least 12 credit hours. Furthermore, applicants must maintain a minimum of a 3.5 GPA in high school or as a college undergraduate. Applicants should have a track record of volunteering in the community or at school. helps students with financial aid of up to $10,000 from all 50 states who have shown courage and endurance in the face of hardship. Recommendations, an essay, and a GPA of 2.0 or better are required to apply. Applications reopen in December. Learn more here.

  • awards two scholarships (of $2,000 each) to deserving students who are either a college Junior, Senior, or Graduate students in one of the fields of Special Education, Allied Health Professions (i.e., Physical Therapy, Speech/Language Pathology, Audiology, Occupational Therapy) and Mental Health Professions (i.e., Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, Art/Music Therapy). The student’s grade point average must be 3.0 or greater to apply.  Furthermore,  the student’s legal residency must be in the Great Southwest District (i.e., Colorado, New Mexico, or El Paso County, Texas), however, he or she may attend  a college or university in any of these three states.   •  helps a single mother afford to attend college classes at Front Range Community College and complete a high school equivalency (HSE) diploma. Applicants must be residents of Larimer County, have income at or below 25% of the Federal Poverty Line, and have taken the TABE pre-test scores are a minimum of 576 on the Reading and 537 on the Math.   •  honors and awards high school students who have made substantial contributions to racial justice and understanding in their schools or communities through voluntary activities.
