The purpose of this detailed listing of Colorado scholarships for college is to help you plan your scholarship search throughout the year. Please find information below about scholarships specifically for Colorado students. Some of the deadlines may be from prior years. Scholarship deadlines are cyclical, so even if a deadline has passed, the website will likely be updated for the current school year. January

Princeton Prize in Race Relations (PPRR) honors and awards high school students who have made substantial contributions to racial justice and understanding in their schools or communities through voluntary activities. Each of the Princeton Prize in Race Relations recipients receives an award of $1,000. The application deadline is January 1st. Learn more here.

This offers up to $6,000 for young engineers. In order to apply, you must pursue an ABET-accredited bachelor’s degree in engineering, maintain full-time enrollment at an accredited Colorado university, show interest in engineering, and have relevant work experience in the last three years. February

ESP Rock Guitar Scholarship awards $5,000 to students in the first two quarters ($2,500 per quarter) plus a new ESP guitar. Applicants must be planning to enroll or enrolled in a Musicians Institute program studying an Associate of Arts and Bachelor of Music in Performance (Guitar) Program. Students who are international students and U.S. citizens are eligible to apply. Also, a YouTube video of applicants performing 3 songs in the Rock genre on the electric or acoustic guitar is required upon applying. The deadline to apply is February 16th. More info here. 

This is for full-time undergraduate students enrolled in a manufacturing engineering or technology degree program at one of the following Colorado universities: All of the campuses of Colorado State University and the University of Colorado are eligible to apply for the scholarship. The awarded amount varies. Applicants for the scholarship must have completed at least 30 college credits and must be interested in pursuing a career in engineering or engineering technology. This rewards $4,700 per student per year. This money may only be used for the costs of attending school, therefore, it can be used for four-year, two-year, or trade programs at accredited colleges, universities, community colleges, and vocational schools. Applicants must be between the ages of 16 – 25, have a high school diploma, GED, or be a high school senior, they must maintain a GPA of 2.0, and must be a child or dependent of a worker who was injured or killed in a compensable work-related accident during the course and scope of employment with a Colorado-based employer and was entitled to receive benefits under the Colorado Workers’ Compensation Act. The Thurgood Marshall College Fund and the Sallie Mae Fund come together to provide financial aid to exceptional students attending authorized post-secondary schools. Twenty-five students who have completed a two-year, four-year, or trade/vocational certificate/certification program will be chosen to earn a scholarship worth up to $10,000.00. Applicants must be high school seniors planning to enroll as  full-time students at an accredited post-secondary institution or continuous education program, be a US citizen or permanent resident, be Pell Grant-eligible, and be a diverse candidate or from an underserved community. March

Gives out a merit based scholarship. The amount varies. In order to apply, you must be a Colorado resident, of Hispanic heritage or actively involved in the Hispanic community, going to an accredited college, university or vocational school, and have a minimum GPA of 3.0. Presents $2,750 to graduate students from Arizona, Colorado, Montana, New Mexico, North Dakota, Texas, Utah, and Wyoming. This scholarship is designed to help individuals’ advancement in the coal mining industry. The deadline to apply is March 1st. Find out more here.

Students entering their junior or senior year at a four-year school are eligible for the Rocky Mountain Coal Mining Engineering/Geology Scholarship. Students must be citizens of the United States and residents of one of the RMCMI’s eight member states, which are Arizona, Colorado, Montana, New Mexico, North Dakota, Texas, Utah, and Wyoming. Awards $5,000 scholarships to 8 students who are committed to helping others. $2500 will be available the first year of school. The remainder will be available in following years if the student is in good standing. The scholarship funds can only be used for books, and tuition, and will be issued directly to the school. You must have a gpa of 2.75 or higher. Lastly you can use the scholarship towards any college, university, community college, or qualified trade school. The application is due March 1st. Students 21 and under about to enter their 1st year of college are eligible to apply. Furthermore, in order to apply the applicant must meet the height requirements of TCI which is  5′ 10″ (178 cm) for women, and 6′ 2″ (188 cm) for men. TCI Foundation awards multiple scholarships of up to $1000 each. The deadline to apply is March 1st. Learn more here.

Offers $500 – $2,000 per year in awards. Their goal is to raise awareness of career opportunities in the mental health field. Applicants must be majoring in Psychology. Essay and recommendations are required. The application must be postmarked no later than March 8th. Learn more here.

Gives out $40,000 to $50,000 in scholarships. Only African American Colorado high school seniors who will be attending college in the fall are eligible for the Sachs Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship. Applicants must have lived in Colorado for at least five years, and they must have a 3.0 GPA. The deadline to apply is March 15th. Learn more here.

Offers scholarships to Colorado residents that are pursuing a career in horticulture or related fields. In order to apply, Applicants must be attending a college or university in Colorado. The scholarships include a full-ride, ungraduated, or graduate scholarship. The deadline to apply is March 15th. Learn more here.

Awards $1,000 to college-bound seniors who’ve overcome a cancer diagnosis. Applicants must submit a transcript, ACT/SAT scores, medical verification, and a 500-word essay describing how cancer developed their character. Survivors can also receive the American Cancer Society’s Great West Division Scholarship. The deadline is March 15th. Learn more here.

CBC Spouses Essay Contest The awarded amount varies.This competition allows academically gifted and highly driven high school juniors and seniors a chance to address a topic that reflects some of our communities most important challenges through an essay. CBC Spouses Performing Arts Scholarship The CBC Spouses Performing Arts Scholarship provides financial aid to African-American or Black students pursuing a degree in the performing arts. Theater, drama, comedy, music, dance, opera, marching bands, and other forms of performance art are all examples of performing arts. Eligible candidates must have a 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale and they must be enrolled full-time in an authorized academic institution. The deadline to apply is March 15th. Learn more here.

 

CBC Spouses Visual Arts Scholarship The CBC Spouses Visual Arts Scholarship helps African-American and Black students pursue degrees in the visual arts. Architecture, pottery, drawing, fashion, graphic design, illustration, interior design, painting, photography, sketching, video production, and so on are examples of visual arts. Eligible candidates must have a 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale and they must be enrolled full-time in an authorized academic institution. The deadline to apply is March 15th. Learn more here.

Awards $1,200. The Western Governors’ Association is pleased to introduce “Celebrate the West,” a regional art competition in which high school students are challenged to create pieces inspired by their home state. The tournament is only open to kids in high school and homeschooled students. Furthermore, students participating must be in a school in Alaska, American Samoa, Arizona, California, Colorado, Guam, Hawaii, Idaho, Kansas, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Northern Mariana Islands, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, or Wyoming. Captain Jeff Kuss Aviation Scholarship Amounts vary. Eligible candidates must be Colorado residents from ages 16-25. Individuals under 18 need parental consent. Furthermore, you must provide your school report cards and have a GPA of 3.0. The deadline to apply is April 15th. Learn more here.

 

Partner Colorado Foundation Scholarships Applicants may receive up to $1,000. In order to apply you must be a Colorado resident and go to school based in Colorado, be between 17 to 40 years old, carry a course load of at least 9 credit hours, and have good academic progress. The Alexander Foundation Scholarship The Alexander Foundation is a public non-profit, philanthropic organization. They have three education scholarships, dedicated to caring for the LGBTQIA+ community to overcome barriers they may face in pursuit of academic success. In order to apply, applicants must be part of the LGBTQIA+ community, be a Colorado resident, and be pursuing a degree at an accredited institution of higher education in the state of Colorado. September

Awards $5,000 to deserving cardiac care nurses or nursing students pursuing a career in cardiac care to provide better care for congenital heart defect patients. Applicants must submit a current version of their resume and answer two prompted questions found on the application. The deadline to apply is September 30th. Apply here.

October

Collaborates with 11 Western states and territories to provide tuition help to students pursuing careers in 10 health fields ranging from optometry to dentistry to veterinary medicine. Through  WICHE PSEP, a student can save $34,100 to $133,600 on tuition over the duration of their health degree study. The deadline to apply is October 15th. Learn more here.

Provides a four-year college scholarship. The amount varies depending on the student’s expected Family Contribution (EFC) and their choice of school. The scholarship pays up to $25,000 per year toward the student’s college tuition, after their EFC, other scholarships, and financial aid. Eligible candidates’ parent(s) or legal guardian(s) must have an Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) of $85,000 or less. Candidates must also be permanent US residents and a high school senior graduating from a school in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, or Wyoming. They must have a  GPA of 3.0  and have a minimum SAT Math score of 490 and a minimum Evidence-Based Reading & Writing score of 490 or a minimum ACT score of 18 in each category. Rewards five $3,000 scholarships to students passionate about education. Applicants must be students at Colorado State Institutions of Education. There is no GPA or Major requirement. The deadline to apply is October 31st. Learn more here.

December

This scholarship is offering a $5,000 scholarship to any student with a genuine interest in the fields of water distribution, water quality, water reclamation, or water reuse in honor of its over 100 years of serving the Colorado people. The deadline to apply is December 20th. Learn more here.

Deadline Varies

is a special bonus offered by the Army to highly qualified individuals who join the army. The Army will refund a portion of a Soldier’s qualified student loans under the LRP. The deadline varies. Learn more here.

  • The First Generation Grant is awarded to undergraduate Colorado residents who require financial aid and whose parent(s) or legal guardians do not have a bachelor’s degree. The deadline varies. Learn more here.

  •  Residents of any state, excluding Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin are eligible to apply for this scholarship. This scholarship is awarded to admitted freshmen based on an overall evaluation of their freshman admissions application.   • is a merit-based scholarship for incoming students at the University of New Mexico who are non-resident applicants. Residents of  Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, North Dakota, Nevada, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, or Wyoming  are eligible to apply.   • is a merit-based award for new students at the University of New Mexico who are non-resident applicants. Residents of  Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, or Wyoming are eligible to apply. A cumulative 3.0 GPA is required, as well as an ACT score of 19 or an SAT score of 990. The Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education administers a regional tuition-discount arrangement. WUE allows students from one of 16 WICHE states and territories in the Western United States to enroll as nonresidents in one of 160+ participating public colleges and universities and pay 150 percent or less of resident tuition.   • The scholarship amount varies. This is offered by the Colorado Department of Higher Education. This is a need-based program offering assistance to students enrolled in a graduate program.   •  is offered by the Colorado Department of Higher Education and is a scholarship for military families. The amount varies. Dependents of Colorado law enforcement officers, firefighters, and national guard members killed or crippled in the line of duty, as well as dependents of prisoners of war or service personnel reported as missing in action, are eligible for tuition and on-campus lodging and board.   • provides resources and financial support to low-income first-generation high school students to pursue and complete a college education. SCHOLARS wants to elevate the success of first-generation students by helping them successfully get admitted to a quality four-year college, maximize their financial aid potential, and obtain a Bachelor’s Degree.  award amount varies each cycle. Colorado GEAR UP has been awarding scholarships to students since 2004 and has helped students enroll in over 200 colleges and universities across the country. In order to apply, students must have completed the Colorado GEAR UP program in high school, have a high school diploma or GED, be under 23 years old at the time of the first scholarship disbursement, attend a Title IV, Pell-eligible institution of higher education, complete the Free Application for Federal Financial Aid (FAFSA), and have a complete financial aid file with the college. In order to be eligible applicants must be Colorado residents with plans to attend an accredited college or university as an undergraduate taking at least 12 credit hours. Furthermore, applicants must maintain a minimum of a 3.5 GPA in high school or as a college undergraduate. Applicants should have a track record of volunteering in the community or at school. helps students with financial aid of up to $10,000 from all 50 states who have shown courage and endurance in the face of hardship. Recommendations, an essay, and a GPA of 2.0 or better are required to apply. Applications reopen in December. Learn more here.

  • awards two scholarships (of $2,000 each) to deserving students who are either a college Junior, Senior, or Graduate students in one of the fields of Special Education, Allied Health Professions (i.e., Physical Therapy, Speech/Language Pathology, Audiology, Occupational Therapy) and Mental Health Professions (i.e., Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, Art/Music Therapy). The student’s grade point average must be 3.0 or greater to apply.  Furthermore,  the student’s legal residency must be in the Great Southwest District (i.e., Colorado, New Mexico, or El Paso County, Texas), however, he or she may attend  a college or university in any of these three states.   •  helps a single mother afford to attend college classes at Front Range Community College and complete a high school equivalency (HSE) diploma. Applicants must be residents of Larimer County, have income at or below 25% of the Federal Poverty Line, and have taken the TABE pre-test scores are a minimum of 576 on the Reading and 537 on the Math.
