Kentucky Scholarships

Important Note: The purpose of this detailed listing is to help you plan your scholarship search throughout the year. Please find information below about scholarships for Kentucky students. Some of the deadlines may be from prior years. Scholarship deadlines are cyclical, so even if a deadline has passed, the website will likely be updated for the 2023-24 cycle. Be sure to reach out to the sponsor or check sponsor websites for the most recent details.  

January

This is for $1,000. To be eligible, applicants must have an FFA membership. Applicants are required to apply online and complete Ford Dealership Endorsement. The deadline to apply is January 11th. More info. here 

 

This gives twenty $1,500 awards. This is available to members of the Future Farmers of America (FFA) who are residents of one of the following states: Arkansas, California, Colorado, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia or Wisconsin. The applicant must plan to major in an eligible agricultural field and have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher. The deadline to apply is January 14th. Learn more here.

This is up to $1,000. Applicants must be from Scioto or Pike counties in Ohio, or Greenup County, Kentucky. Applicants must also have a minimum 3.0 GPA and be recommended by teacher education faculty. Financial need is considered. FAFSA must be completed. The deadline to apply is January 15th. This is for first-time and first-year students at KSU that have a minimum high school GPA of 3.5 and a minimum ACT score of 25. This covers full in-state or out-of-state tuition and mandatory fees. To get this renewed, you must maintain a 3.5 GPA and provide 50 hours of community service. The deadline for applications is January 15th. Apply here.

This awards ranges from one-time $2,500 awards to multi-year $20,000 awards. Applicants must be a female U.S. citizen, national or legal permanent resident of Asian and/or Pacific Islander ethnicity (as defined by the U.S. Census) who is from Alabama, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, North Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, or Wisconsin, and will be enrolling in an accredited college or university as a full-time, degree-seeking, first-year student in the upcoming academic year. February

This is a one-year award of $2,500. Applicants must be currently enrolled on the Lexington campus and pursuing a first-time baccalaureate degree in the fall semester. Applicants must have earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50 by the end of the spring semester and have completed a minimum of 24 credit hours during the academic year. This is for graduating high school seniors from Jefferson, Oldham, Shelby, and Bullitt Counties in Kentucky, or Floyd, Clark, and Harrison Counties in Indiana. Applicants must have a minimum 2.0 GPA and be pursuing a college degree in non-performing Visual Arts or Visual Arts-related fields. The amount varies and the deadline to apply is February 15th. This is for $5,000. Must be a senior who attends high school or lives in Calloway, Daviess, Franklin, Hancock, Henderson, Hopkins, Jefferson, McCracken, McLean, Warren, or Webster County, in addition to criteria listed under specific scholarships. This awards $3,000 to a high school senior in the Greater Cincinnati area who plans to declare a STEM-related major. The deadline to apply is February 28th. Read more here.

This will award county and state college scholarships to high school seniors for the current school year.  To be eligible, applicants must be the child of a Kentucky Farm Bureau member and remain such while the scholarship is in force and finish high school within the year they apply for the scholarship and attend college. Students must also maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5 after each semester or forfeit the award. The deadline to apply is February 28th. Read more here.

This is open to students from schools in Kentucky who have a passion for using technology skills to make a positive social change in the world or at home in their communities. In order to be considered for this scholarship, an applicant must currently be attending a rural high school as a senior in the state of Kentucky and be an active member of their school’s STLP. This offers four scholarships to high school seniors and current college students (two for high school seniors and two for college students) pursuing degrees in agriculture or a related field from an accredited college, university, or trade school. To be eligible, either the student or the student’s parents/guardians must be a Kentucky Corn Grower Association member to qualify. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 and a minimum ACT score of 18, citizenship, leadership, and the role they want to play in the future of agriculture. The deadline to apply is March 1st. This awards $1,000 to one high school senior entering college and one current undergraduate or graduate student. Applicants must reside in Kentucky and be pursuing a degree in agriculture or a related field from an accredited college, university, or trade school in any location. This is awards $1,000 to undergraduate students, age of 25 or above, who are pursuing a degree in agriculture or related natural resources field. This provides assistance for Kentucky high school and home school students who are taking dual credit classes at a participating Kentucky college or university. Eligible students may receive scholarships for up to two classes. The deadline to apply is March 1st. Learn more here.

Prospective students aiming for careers in healthcare, advanced manufacturing, transportation/logistics, business services/IT, or construction must enroll and apply for the scholarship. The deadline to apply is March 1st. Learn more here.

This awards $500 to applicants who are actively involved in the production or promotion of pork in Kentucky. To be eligible applicants’ families must be paid members of the Kentucky Pork Producers Association. To be considered for this award, the applicant must be a relative of a Margaret Hall alumnus or faculty member, be a senior enrolled in an accredited high school, and have attained a scholastic average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. The deadline to apply is March 6th. Learn more here.

 

This gives deserving young people the financial means to continue their education. This non-renewable scholarship is awarded to high school seniors attending Fayette County Public Schools. This is awarded to high school seniors attending Fayette County Public Schools. Eligible applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5. Scholarships are awarded based on the applicant’s financial need, academic achievement, and contribution to the community. Students applying under the Special Needs category must provide an Individual Education Plan (IEP) or 504 plan. The award amount varies, and the deadline to apply is March 6th. Read more here.

 

This is  for $1,000. This is open to graduating seniors attending public high schools in Fayette County, as well as to immediate family members of CLARK employees who reside in Kentucky. Students must demonstrate community involvement; have financial needs; and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. Students must be a resident of Kentucky and plan to attend a four-year college or university. Preference is given to first-generation scholarship students. The deadline is March 6th. Read more here.

This is in honor of Emma E. Buckley, a long-time philanthropist in Kentucky. This $2,500 renewable scholarship is awarded to high school seniors attending Woodford County High School and Fayette County Public Schools who demonstrate significant financial need. Applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. Preference is given to first-generation college students. The deadline for submission is March 6th. Read more here.

This was established to honor William J. Elliott, a chemistry and physics teacher at Highlands High School for 32 years. This non-renewable merit-based scholarship provides an annual award of $2,000 to a graduating senior from Highlands High School who demonstrates excellent academic achievement and who plans to pursue a degree in science, technology, engineering, math, or pre-medicine. Applicants must have a cumulative unweighted GPA of 3.5 or higher and a composite ACT score of at least 28 or SAT score of at least 1250. The deadline to apply is March 6th. Read more here.

This awards three scholarships of $2,500 each to high school seniors in Fayette, Harrison, or Union counties, Kentucky with significant financial needs who wish to further pursue their education by attending college. This is offered to graduating seniors at Western Hills High School in Frankfort, KY. Eligible candidates must be involved in sports and/or the arts; have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0; demonstrate financial need; and plan to attend a two- or four-year accredited college or university, with preference given to students who plan to attend college in Kentucky or Ohio. This was established to provide scholarships to graduating high school seniors attending Harrison County High School who demonstrate significant financial need and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. This is for $5,000 to children of UAW 862 members or retirees who plan to attend college in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. To be eligible, applicants must be graduating high school seniors with a minimum GPA of 3.5. The deadline to apply is March 6th. Read more here.

This is for $5,000. This is open to high school seniors attending Lee County High School in Beattyville, Kentucky who demonstrate financial need and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. This is for $5,000. This scholarship is available to graduating seniors from Woodford County High School with a minimum GPA of 2.5. Students must attend an accredited two- or four-year College, University, or Technical School. Recipients should share Monica’s values by being selfless, genuine, a natural leader, willing to put the needs of others ahead of their own wants, not afraid to challenge the status quo, and dedicated to the value of friendship. This created by the Murry Foundation, supports students from Fayette County, KY, and Lancaster County, PA, in pursuing higher education. This awards $1,500 to employees or relatives of employees of companies belonging to the Kentucky Propane Gas Association. High school seniors and current undergraduate students are eligible to apply. The deadline for applications is March 6th. Read more here.

 

This was established to provide scholarships to female students who are graduating high school seniors attending Harrison County High School who demonstrate significant financial need and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. Preference is given to first-generation college students. This provides an award of $3,000 that is renewable for up to four years of undergraduate study. The deadline for applications is March 6th. This established by Georgetown Community Hospital, honors Dr. Narayan Kumar “Dr. Vengu” Venguswamy and his wife. It’s for Scott County graduating seniors pursuing medical or photography degrees. Eligible applicants from Scott County High School or Great Crossing High School need a minimum GPA of 3.0 and should plan full-time enrollment at a four-year college. This provides a scholarship of up to $2,000 per academic year for students who have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 and a minimum ACT score of 17 or SAT score of 1190. All recipients must demonstrate outstanding character as evidenced by their work ethic and service to others. Priority will be given to applicants residing within Kentucky counties of Boyd, Carter, Greenup, and Lawrence, as well as Scioto County Ohio. This awards up to $10,000. To be eligible, applicants must be high school seniors who plan to be full-time students at an accredited post-secondary institution or continuous education program in the following year. The deadline to apply is March 8th. Read more here.

This grants at least $1,000 to graduating high school seniors residing in Kentucky’s Boyd, Carter, Elliott, Greenup, and Lawrence counties. Successful candidates must be accepted at participating four-year colleges like the University of Kentucky, pursuing majors in the sciences, display strong academic merit, possess unmet financial need, and attach a counselor’s recommendation. This awards five $1,500 to students planning to major in Agriculture or an Agriculturally-related subject. To be eligible, applicants must be a graduate of a Kentucky public, private, charter, or homeschool. Applicants or their parents or guardians must be members of the Kentucky Cattlemen’s Association. This is accepting applications for (4) $1,000 academic scholarships that may be awarded to a graduating high school senior with a minimum GPA of 2.5 (4.0 scale) at the time of application. Applicants must be a member of Service One Credit Union and must be enrolled or planning to enroll as a full-time student at Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College (SKYCTC) or Western Kentucky University (WKU) for the 2023-2024 academic year. April

This offers scholarships to students of partner universities. To be eligible to apply for the program, applicants must be current high school sophomores residing in one of the 45-county service areas of The Center for Rural Development. Applicants must have a strong interest in developing skills in leadership, technology, entrepreneurship, and community service and have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and a 24 ACT or above. This awards $500 to college students majoring in agricultural education who are currently in, or preparing for, their student teaching semester. The deadline to apply is April 1st. Read more here.

This award $4,000 to high school seniors of  Bullitt, Henry, Jefferson, Oldham, Shelby, Spencer, and Trimble counties in Kentucky and Clark, Floyd, and Harrison counties in Indiana. Applicants must enroll in agricultural or agricultural-related curricula at agricultural colleges or universities only in Kentucky or Indiana. The deadline to apply is April 1st. Read more here.

This supports high school students entering a college or university within the SETC region to major in theatre. Applicants need three letters of reference, including one from a high school principal highlighting their theater talent and academic potential. SAT or ACT scores are necessary. This awards two $2,500 to high school seniors who reside in BBB Cincinnati’s 20-county service area (Adams, Brown, Butler, Clermont, Clinton, Gallia, Hamilton, Highland, Jackson, Lawrence, Pike, Scioto and Warren counties in Ohio; Boone, Campbell, and Kenton counties in Kentucky; and Dearborn, Ohio, Ripley and Switzerland counties in Indiana). This awards $2,000 to a student pursuing a graduate degree in acting or musical theater performance. The deadline to apply is April 15th. Read more here.

This awards $1,500 to a student pursuing a graduate degree in costume design and/or technology. The deadline to apply is April 15th. Read more here.

This awards $5,000 to a secondary school teacher pursuing a graduate degree in theater, or speech and theater at a regionally accredited graduate program. To be eligible, applicants must have at least one year of experience as a full-time teacher and director of theater in a secondary school in the SETC region. The deadline to apply is April 15th. This is for $3,000. To qualify, you need to be a U.S. Citizen residing in the Mountain Telephone service area, have a parent/guardian as a current member, graduate high school in 2023 with a GPA between 2.0-4.0 (preference for 2.50-3.50), complete the 2023-24 FAFSA, and be enrolled full-time. This offers a scholarship of $1,500 to an ESL/LEP student graduating from a Kentucky high school based on the availability of funding. The purpose of this scholarship is to assist a deserving student in pursuing a post-high school education. To be eligible, students must have been enrolled in ESL class(es) during middle or high school years, are graduating seniors at a Kentucky high school, and have a 2.5 GPA or higher. This offers up to $6,000 per semester. Applicants must qualify for benefits under the Kentucky Workers’ Compensation Act, be between the ages of 16 and 25 years old, attend two- or four-year post-secondary schools, and exhibit a substantial need for financial assistance. This awards $1,000 to a student who grew up in a rural area that is pursuing a career in cyber security. To be eligible, applicants must be attending or planning to attend college to pursue a technology-related degree. The deadline to apply is April 15th. Read more here.

This offers $10,000 to a young adult who has lost a parent to metastatic breast cancer or has financial hardship due to a parent currently living with metastatic breast cancer and wishes to seek a higher education as a post-high school graduate. Award recipients must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher. The deadline to apply is April 15th. Learn more here.

This awards seven $20,000 scholarships to graduating high school seniors from Greater Cincinnati, including Kentucky’s Boone, Campbell, Grant, Gallatin, Kenton, and Pendleton counties. Eligible candidates must be accepted as freshmen at accredited Tri-State colleges, maintain a 2.5 GPA or higher, score at least 18 on the ACT, pursue an associate or bachelor’s degree full-time, exhibit financial need, and have leadership roles in the community. Each year, $5,000 is divided equally among five recipients who are pursuing collegiate education. Preference is given to students interested in law enforcement or the legal dependents of police officers. Applicants must reside in Kentucky as high school seniors, be accepted into an accredited college or vocational school, maintain a minimum “C” average (GPA of 2.0), and exhibit good citizenship and leadership ability. This offers five $2,500 to students from Southern Indiana and Northern Kentucky. To be eligible, applicants must be a high school senior, graduate, or GED recipient. The deadline to apply is April 18th. Read more here.

This gives a $1,000 award to high school seniors who have participated in a youth soccer program. Eligible applicants must reside in Kentucky, be completing a college-prep curriculum, be accepted at an accredited U.S. institution, maintain a cumulative GPA above 3.0, and demonstrate active community service. This awards scholarships to deserving high school and/or college students. To be eligible, students must major in and plan to pursue a career in advertising, marketing, public relations, or graphic design. The applicant must be graduating from a high school or currently attending college in Vanderburgh, Warrick, Posey, Gibson, Pike in Indiana or Edwards, White, Wabash, Wayne in Illinois or Henderson, Union, Daviess in Kentucky. This awards a former or current Girl Scout who graduated high school with a 3.0 GPA or higher. Applicants must be residents of the Greater Cincinnati area. The deadline to apply is April 30th. Read more here.

This awards no less than $500 to St. Xavier High School with at least a 2.0 GPA. The deadline to apply is April 30th. Read more here.

 

May

This gives four scholarships of $2,500. This is available to students who are currently majoring in broadcasting or communications at a college or university in Kentucky. The deadline for applications is May 1st. Website found here.

This awards students who have been employed at the Heritage Golf Club or caddied or are a legal dependent of a current employee of the Heritage Club. The deadline to apply is May 1st. Read more here.

This is a post-secondary partial scholarship program for children of employees of Kentucky radio and television stations. KBA will annually award fourteen scholarships of  $1,500 each to qualified sons and daughters of employees of Kentucky broadcast stations. The deadline for applications is May 1st. This awards up to $5,000 per year to Kentucky students pursuing a field of study within the equine, animal science, or agriculture industry and/or whose family is employed in the equine, animal science, or agriculture industry. The deadline to apply is May 1st. Read more here or here

This awards up to $1,000 to a Morehead State University student with an Animal Science major with Equine emphasis. To be eligible, applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.85 and have an annual household income of less than $75,000 or be financially independent from parents. The deadline to apply is May 1st. This awards up to $4,000 to students whose family member is employed by WinStar Farm. To be eligible, applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.00 and have an annual household income of less than $75,000 or be financially independent from parents. The deadline to apply is May 1st. Read more here.

This awards one $5,000 scholarship and two $2,500 scholarships annually. To be eligible, applicants must be U.S. citizen and resident of the Central United States who has Cystic Fibrosis. Applicants must be enrolled in or accepted to an accredited junior college, college, university, or trade school with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.7. The deadline to apply is May 1st. This provides two $1,000 awards to Kentucky or Indiana residents who are graduating high school seniors or currently enrolled students at a 2 or 4-year college or university. This awards up to eleven $2,500 scholarships to undergraduate students enrolled in an agriculture field of study with strong ties to dairy. Applicants must have majors in communications/public relations, journalism, marketing, business, economics, nutrition, food science, and Ag education. The deadline to apply is May 12th. This is for $1,500. To be considered, applicants must attend the University of Kentucky, be full-time students, and plan to pursue a career in agriculture or related fields. The deadline for applications is May 12th. Read more here.

This gives two $1000 awards. To be eligible, applicants must have completed one year of college or technical school with at least a “C” average, be a full-time Kentucky resident, have been an active Kentucky 4-H member, and must have college or technical school involvement outside of studies. This is for $500.  Applicants must be current or have been a member of State 4-H Teen Council and going into a field of public or civic service; does not have to be a KY resident; do not have to attend an institution in Kentucky. The deadline to apply is May 12th. Read more here.

This is for college freshmen currently under a physician’s care for epilepsy/seizures (i.e. neurological seizures), undergoing treatment and/or taking anticonvulsant medication(s), and struggling to overcome adversity because of their epilepsy/seizures. This is a $12,000 college tuition scholarship fund for high school seniors in Louisville, Kentucky who demonstrate high standards of scholarship, citizenship, and leadership. Applicants must have attended a JCPS high school, have a cumulative (weighted) GPA of 3.2 or higher, and an ACT score of 25 or higher, or an SAT score of 1200 or higher (Critical Reading and Math scores combined).
