January

ARRL Foundation Scholarship Program offers numerous scholarships to licensed radio amateurs. The deadline to apply is January 6th. Website found here.

Brent P. Poor Memorial Scholarship rewards $1,000 per semester for 8 consecutive semesters to children of a widow/widower who has never remarried. To be eligible, applicants must be enrolling or enrolled full-time at a college in Louisiana or Texas. The deadline to apply is February January 31st. Learn more here.

This  is for $800. This is given to students who are graduates of Dubach High School, LA, and plan to attend Louisiana Tech University. The student must have a grade point average of 3.2 or higher, and an ACT score of 24 or higher or a SAT score of 1090 or higher to be eligible. The deadline to apply is January 5th. This is for $1,000. To be eligible, applicants must have an FFA membership. Applicants are required to apply online and complete Ford Dealership Endorsement. The deadline to apply is January 9th. More info. here

This is for $2,500. Applicants must be pursuing a degree in the field of agriculture and reside in one of the following states: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, New York, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia or West Virginia. A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required as well as participation in community service, financial need and leadership ability. Selection is based on the overall strength of the application. This offers $2,000 to students pursuing four-year degrees in specified agricultural fields. It’s open to residents of several states, including Alabama, California, Florida, and more. Selection is based on application quality, and the deadline is January 9th.  Read more here.

This is for $6,500. This is available to high school seniors who are residents of Louisiana and plan to attend Louisiana Tech University. The student must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher, and have an SAT score of 1130 to 1410 or an ACT score of 23 to 31. The deadline to apply is January 15th. Read more here.

This is for $9,500. This is available to high school seniors who plan to attend Louisiana Tech University. Students must have a GPA 3.75-4.0 and have an SAT score of 1450-1600 or an ACT score of 33 or higher. The deadline to apply is January 15th. Read more here.

Offer ranges from $1,000 – $80,000. Applicants must reside and study in one of these regions: Alaska, Arkansas, Georgia, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, North Dakota, South Carolina, South Dakota, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. Applicants must have taken the SAT or ACT and intend to enroll in an Opportunity Partner College and have a minimum GPA of 2.5 and have significant unmet financial need. This rewards $500 to a graduating high school senior who is deaf, hard of hearing, DeafBlind, or has difficulty speaking. The deadline to apply is January 31st. Read more here.

Fastline Publications Scholarship is for applicants pursuing a four-year degree in agricultural business/farm/livestock or ranch management or agricultural sales and marketing. Seventeen $1,000 scholarships will be given to a resident of Illinois; Indiana; Iowa; Kansas; Kentucky; West Virginia, Virginia, North Carolina or South Carolina; Arkansas, Louisiana or Mississippi; Missouri; Nebraska; Pennsylvania or New York; Washington, Oregon or Idaho; Ohio; Oklahoma; Alabama, Georgia or Florida; Tennessee; Texas; Wisconsin. Applicants must live on a family farm, exhibit strong leadership skills, financial need, and demonstrate an interest in managing a farm. The deadline to apply is January 9th. Learn more here.

 

February

This is for high school seniors who have participated in a Dixie Softball program for at least two seasons. The deadline to apply is February 1st. Website found here.

JonCade Thomas Clemons Memorial Scholarship offers $3,000 awards and candidates must be high school graduates with a 3.0 GPA, attending a Louisiana institution. Recipients need to be full-time students, maintaining 12+ credit hours and a 3.0 GPA per semester for scholarship retention.The deadline to apply is February 1st. Apply here.

This awards annual scholarships for $1,000 to $10,000 to encourage higher education for self-identified lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and straight ally students. Suitable applicants will live in Louisiana, be accepted at an accredited post-secondary school, be age 17 or older, maintain good academic standing, and actively advocate for LGBT equality rights. This is for applicants who are working or planning to work directly with children. Applicants must pursue graduate-level studies for one year in fields that address the special needs of children and youth. The deadline to apply is February 1st. Learn more here. 

This is the LRAEF’s most prestigious award. It is named for former LRA President & CEO Jim Funk, who was instrumental in founding the LRAEF during his 30 years of service to the LRA. This scholarship is awarded to the top scholarship applicant for the 2022 cycle and is renewable on an annual basis for up to four years, provided that minimum GPA and enrollment standards are met. This is awarded exclusively to students who achieve the ProStart Certificate of Achievement. ProStart is a nationwide, two-year restaurant management and culinary arts program for high school students that develops the best and brightest talent into tomorrow’s industry leaders. This is awarded to qualified applicants who show an interest in cultivating, protecting, and promoting Louisiana seafood. The deadline to apply is February 3rd. More info. Here.

The scholarship offers $20,000 annually to students from specific states for engineering studies at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Applicants must apply for University admission early, with scholarships awarded to first-year students entering the College of Engineering. Recipients must pursue an engineering degree at the University, and the support lasts up to four years or until graduation, with renewal contingent on maintaining a 3.0 GPA. Offers range from $500 to $5,000. Applicants must be high school seniors or college freshmen or sophomores who are residents of Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia or the District of Columbia. Students must also  have a minimum GPA of 3.0 for high school seniors or 2.75 for college students. Selection is based on academic excellence, community involvement, leadership skills, awards and honors, and financial need. The deadline for applications is February 7th. Website found here.

This is for graduating high school seniors who are eligible and planning to enroll full-time at a two- or four-year college/ university. To be eligible, applicants must be legal U.S. residents who are younger than 21 years old and have at least one parent of Hispanic heritage. A minimum GPA of 2.8 is required. This ranges from $500 to $3,000. Applicants must be dependents of workers who died or were permanently disabled in a compensable work-related accident in Louisiana. They must be Louisiana residents 16 to 25 years of age, maintain a C average or higher and demonstrate financial need. Applicants must plan to work toward an associate’s or bachelor’s degree, certificate, or license at an accredited Louisiana institution of higher learning. The deadline to apply is February 11th. This awards a one-time scholarship of up to $1,500. Applicants must be high school seniors living in a Simon® community, set to graduate by Spring 2023. They should be legal U.S. residents, intending to enroll full-time in an accredited college, university, or vocational/technical school in Fall 2023. Aaron Bernard Murray and Fay Tyler Murray Education Encouragement Award rewards students who demonstrate good citizenship and have a record of sound academic achievement. It is a one-time award of $750 for Baton Rouge Magnet High School seniors who will be enrolling full-time into an accredited university or college. The deadline to apply is February 15th. Roger J. Clouatre Memorial Scholarship is for $500. To be considered, you must be graduating from a public high school in Ascension Parish, Louisiana, and be enrolling full-time into an accredited university college. You must also have a minimum cumulative GPA requirement of 3.0 and demonstrate leadership qualities. The deadline to apply is February 15th. Read more here.

 

Madere-Jones Scholarship is for $1,500 per semester for a maximum of 8 consecutive semesters. To be considered you must be graduating from a high school in Livingston Parish, Louisiana, and be enrolling full-time into an accredited university or college. March

The Vanross Foundation awards $500 to graduating high school seniors from an accredited California, Colorado, Georgia, Illinois, Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, New York, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas or Wisconsin high school or home school program. Applicants must be pursuing post-high school course study at either a college or university or other post-secondary educational institutions. The deadline to apply is March 31st. Learn more here.

This is for $1,000. This is given to 20 graduating high school seniors (2023-2024) with a GPA of 2.5+, showing academic excellence and community involvement, can apply. They should plan to enroll in accredited higher education (2024-2025) and be a Jefferson Financial FCU member upon awarding.The deadline is March 1st. Read more here.

This rewards $10,000 to “at-risk” incoming freshmen to UL Lafayette. To be eligible, applicants must have a minimum ACT composite score of 19; an English ACT score of 18; a Math ACT score of 19; and a GPA of 2.5. The deadline to apply is March 1st. Learn more here.

This offers numerous scholarships to support children of Marine or Navy Corpsman, Chaplain, or Religious Programs specialists attached to a Marine unit with their post-high school education. To be eligible, applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.0 and have an adjusted gross income at or below the financial eligibility threshold determined by the Foundation on an annual basis. This awards two $1,500 scholarships to one male and one female graduating high school senior student-athletes. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 and an ACT score of 24. The deadline to apply is March 11th. Learn more here.

This will assist school-aged children to facilitate or offset the cost associated with developmental and/or educational programs and creative events. The goal of the Orchestrating Dreams Scholarship is to foster, build, sustain and empower strong Louisiana families through music, food and culture. This is a $10,000 award for Louisiana high school juniors planning to attend an eligible Louisiana institution. Students must demonstrate critical financial need and possess a grade point average of 2.0 or higher. The deadline to apply is March 15th. Read more here.

This is for $750. To be considered, students must be high school seniors and currently bowling in a USBS Certified Youth League. Students must also reside in a Southern Bowling Congress member state which includes Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Texas. Applicants must have bowled in a USBC Certified Youth League three or four years in high school and have bowled 75 percent of the league schedule. Students must have a minimum grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale and achieve an ACT composite score of 20 or SAT composite score of 1410. The deadline to apply is March 15th. More info. Here.

This is given to Bogalusa High School students who want to pursue higher education. The scholarship award is to be used toward the following, in order of priority: tuition and fees; room and board; books and supplies; and commuting expenses. This is for $1,000. This is given to high school senior(s) who participated in either the Salmen High School Swim Team or the St. Tammany Swim League located at 497 Cumberland Street to offset educational expenses to any accredited two and/or four-year college or university.  The Fund’s primary objective is to award one scholarship to a Salmen High School student and one scholarship to a St. Tammany Swim League team student. This awards $1,000 to a graduating senior of Slidell High School with outstanding academic achievement and a record of service to the school and community. The deadline to apply is March 17th. Read more here.

This awards up to $5,000 to graduating high school seniors residing in St. Tammany Parish enrolled in an out-of-state university. The deadline to apply is March 17th. Website found here.

This offers $500 per semester to a high school senior who will be pursuing a college degree in the Fall following their graduation. Applicants must study Business; Communications; Computer Science & Math; Engineering; English; and Social Sciences & Law for their degree. A minimum of 3.0 GPA must be maintained. Applicants must not be a child, stepchild, grandchild, or legal guardian of an AMERISAFE employee or Board Member. The deadline to apply is March 26th. Read more here.

This offers two Louisiana scholarships each year, including the Gwen Higgins English Scholarship for $2,000. Graduating seniors at Lake Arthur High School must have passed four years of English, pursue an associate or bachelor’s degree full-time this Fall, and display academic excellence with a minimum 3.5 GPA. This awards $1,000 to a graduating senior at Jennings High School who plans to pursue a college degree in the Fall after graduation. A minimum GPA of 3.0 must be maintained. The deadline to apply is March 26th. Read more here.

Offers ranges from $3,500 to $5,000. Applicants must be high school seniors or college freshmen, sophomores or juniors who live or attend an accredited college in states with Regions branches. Students must write an essay about a Black American individual who has been an inspiration. The deadline to apply is March 31st. Website found here.

This is for $750. One scholarship will be given to the most qualified applicant from one of the area high schools of St Mary Parish to further their music or vocal education. The deadline for applications is March 31st. Download application here.

This offers three scholarships of $2,500 for students who are children of dairy farmers, dairy farm employees, or FFA or 4-H dairy show participants their junior or senior year in high school. The deadline to apply is March 31st. Learn more here.

April

ESA Youth Scholarship is for students who reside in a participating state and must enter their local ESA Chapter awards to become eligible for the overall national awards. Students who reside in a state without an ESA chapter or in a non-participating state should submit their applications directly to ESA. The amount varies and the deadline to apply is April 4th. Boudreaux Family Scholarship is a one-year scholarship, payable $2,000 per semester for two consecutive semesters, for a total award of $4,000. Applicants must be graduating from Zachary High School in Zachary, Louisiana, and be enrolling full-time into an accredited university or college. This is up to $500. To be considered, applicants must be a resident of a parish in Louisiana. Award funds must be utilized in an institution of higher learning within the state of Louisiana. The student must plan to be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student. The deadline for submitting applications is April 1st. Read more here.

This is for $500. To be eligible, applicants must be graduating from Dutchtown High School in Geismar, Louisiana, and be enrolling full-time into an accredited university or college. The deadline to apply is April 15th. Website found here.

This helps students of exceptional promise reach their full potential through education. Applicants must reside in specified Parishes, have a sponsoring API member in good standing, be full-time students with a 2.5 GPA and 12 semester hours, and either be high school seniors or pursuing a Bachelor’s/Master’s degree at a 4-year accredited college. This provides a St. Tammany Parish woman with $2,500 to engage in transformational training for personal and/or professional development to better enable them to impact their world. The deadline to apply is April 15th.  Website found here.

This offers scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $3,000 to graduating high school seniors who demonstrate a financial need. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.5, and an ACT score of 18 or a SAT score of 800. The deadline to apply is April 22nd. Learn more here.

May

This awards scholarships of $3000 to Louisiana students as financial assistance during their full-time study toward the Master’s Degree in Library Science at Louisiana State University SLIS. Preference will be given to applicants having a composite undergraduate grade point average of at least 3.2 or a graduate degree with a grade point average of at least 3.5 from that degree on a 4.0 scale, and a combined score on the verbal and quantitative portions of the G.R.E. of at least 1050. This provides financial assistance to females enrolled or enrolling in a STEM field at an accredited two-year technical program, four-year undergraduate program, or a graduate program with a preference for those interested in the automobile and mobility industry. Applicants must attend a college or university in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia, and have a minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA. This is for $500 per semester for the first two semesters and $1,500 per semester thereafter. To be eligible, applicants must be employed part-time by an Associated Grocers-affiliated grocery store. Applicants must be enrolled or enrolling full-time at an accredited college/ university. The deadline to apply is June 30th. Learn more here.

July

This is a competitive scholarship that awards $2,000 annually for an undergraduate student and $3,000 annually to a graduate student pursuing a degree in forestry, wildlife or marine science at a Louisiana Public College or University. To be eligible, you must be a U.S. citizen or national or eligible non-citizen and be registered with Selective Service if required. You must also be a Louisiana resident for at least one year. This has conferred over 600 scholarships for $1.9 million total to financially bolster high school seniors from Louisiana’s St. Bernard Parish who are pursuing accredited U.S. higher education. For $1,000 annually, interested applicants must attend a college or technical school full-time, successfully complete 18+ credits, per year, carry a minimum unadjusted GPA of 2.0, and have need for financial assistance. This is open to Louisiana residents who attend or plan to attend a college or university in Louisiana. Students must complete the TOPS core curriculum coursework while in high school and achieve minimum scores on the ACT to qualify for one of four TOPS awards (Opportunity, Performance, Honors, or Tech). This offers three scholarships of $1,000 to students studying wildlife, fisheries, or law enforcement. To be eligible, applicants must be enrolled in an undergraduate program as a junior or senior with a minimum of 60 college hours in an accredited University. A minimum GPA of 2.5 is required. This provides financial needs-based awards to support students who are active volunteers in their community and are attending or are soon to be attending a post-secondary institution. This $5,000 scholarship award is available in each of the Warrick Dunn Charities flagship states: Florida, Georgia, and Louisiana. The deadline for applications is July 15th. More info. Here.

This provides 16 awards at $15,000 each to high school seniors attending McNeese State University or the University at Louisiana Lafayette with a minimum GPA of 2.0. The deadline to apply is July 31st. Learn more here.

August

This for graduating high school seniors who have been accepted to an accredited four-year college/university. A two-year renewable scholarship for up to $15,000 will be awarded. Eligibility requires applicants to be first-year students enrolling full-time at an HBCU for Fall 2023, with US citizenship, residency, or nationality, and a minimum unweighted GPA of 2.8 on a 4.0 scale.The deadline to apply is August 23rd. September

October

The national first-place winner will receive a $35,000 scholarship and other national scholarships range from $1,000 to $21,000. The first-place winner from each VFW Department (state) will receive at least a $1,000 scholarship. The deadline to apply is October 31st. Website found here.

November

These scholarships are awarded to students who have a parent that graduated from LSU or is currently employed at LSU Baton Rouge. The parent may be biological, adoptive, or a stepparent. In order to qualify, students must apply to LSU by their priority deadline of November 15th. There are 3 levels: Excellence (ACT=28, SAT=1310, $1000/year); Superior (ACT=26, SAT=1240, $750/year); and Merit (ACT=24, SAT=1160, $500/year). More details here.

This awards up to $1,500 to any potential candidate trying to obtain their initial USCG captain’s license. To be eligible, applicants must be working as a deckhand in South Louisiana. The deadline to apply is November 15th. Learn more here.

This offers $2,500 scholarships to six students whose works explore personal grief and loss. State scholarships of $500 are open to two students from Arizona, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Montana, New Jersey, New Mexico, Ohio, or Tennessee. The deadline to apply is December 1st. Deadline's Vary

To be eligible applicants must be incoming freshmen with a minimum GPA of 3.00 and a minimum of 20 on the ACT or a minimum of 940 on the SAT. The amount and deadline to apply vary. Read more here.

This provides individual scholarships and grants to deserving Louisiana high school students attending two-year and four-year Louisiana undergraduate institutions, based on financial need and academic performance. Scholarship amounts range from $500 to $2,500 per semester. To be eligible, applicants must have earned a 2.5 cumulative high school grade point average or higher and have an ACT score of 19 or better. The deadline to apply varies. More info. Here.

This offers varied awards to support the education of deserving female students with financial needs in higher education. To be considered, you must be a Christian woman who lives in one of the specified states. Read more here.

This is offering up to $2,500 for tuition and $500 for textbooks per year, the Sovereign Nation of the Chitimacha grants multiple scholarships to tribal members who have finished a high school diploma or GED certificate. Eligible Native Americans must live within a 50-mile radius of the Louisiana reservation, gain admission at an accredited college or trade school, attain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher, and file the FAFSA application. This is for $1,000. It aims to provide financial assistance to students of Louisiana. Winners are announced on a quarterly basis: March 31, June 30, September 30, and December 31. To be eligible, you must enroll in a college or university within the academic year. Learn more here.

This is up to $3,000. This supports nontraditional and low-income students in need of additional financial aid. If you are a Louisiana resident with financial need who has filed the FAFSA, received a Pell grant, and still has remaining need, you may be eligible for an award. Part-time students may receive awards as long as they attend an eligible Louisiana institution at least half time. Apply by filing the FAFSA each year. This award is renewable.
