January
To apply, you must be a full-time high school student attending a public, private, or home school in the Greater Boston Area. If you happen to be the finalist, you will receive all expenses paid trip to MIT that includes: a presentation of research proposals, meeting with MIT professors in the student’s area of interest, personalized tours of MIT research laboratories, attending MIT’s spring tech symposium, opportunity to attend MIT classes and experience MIT student life, the budget of $1000 to implement a project, and weekly mentorship meetings with MIT student mentors. Clemson University Out-of-State Tuition Scholarship is eligible to residents of South Carolina. Domestic out-of-state students with an exceptional high school academic record will be considered for a renewable merit award. Students who show financial need through their FAFSA application will be considered for renewable grant funds as well as merit awards offered. Applicants must maintain a 3.0 GPA and 12 credits per semester for renewal. Inquire with Financial Aid for specific award amounts. The deadline is January 3rd. Massachusetts JCI Senate Scholarship will award (2) $1000 scholarships to graduating students in Massachusetts. The State winners will be forwarded to the National JCI Senate and will be eligible for additional $1000 scholarships. We will also award a special $500 scholarship based on need and special circumstances. To be eligible, applicants must be graduating students in Massachusetts who plan to continue their education at an accredited post-secondary college, university, or vocational school. The Hanover Community Scholarship Program offers thirty $1000 to $2000 scholarships to Worcester area seniors attending public high school. Leicester High seniors are eligible and must be attending a 2 or 4 years accredited college in the fall. LHS students have won these scholarships in the past and students are encouraged to apply. Please note that financial need is not considered. The application is due January 16th and winners are decided on February 3rd. Learn more here.
ACEC/MA Education Corporation & Scholarships are for students entering their junior, senior, fifth, or master’s degree year demonstrating an interest in consulting engineering. GPA should be 3.0 or higher. This scholarship is favored towards those with internship or co-op experience in the field. The deadline to apply is January 26th. Learn more here
The Barbara J. Sinnott Student of Integrity Scholarship awards $1,000 to each of four graduating high school seniors who demonstrate a commitment to the ideals of the Better Business Bureau. Rowan University Brown and Gold Scholarship awards merit-based scholarships to eligible out-of-state students enrolled full time during the fall semester. Individual award amounts are determined at the discretion of Rowan University’s Office of Admissions based on the overall academic qualifications of the student, the competitiveness of the applicant pool and available funding. TheDream.US Opportunity Scholarship covers tuition, fees, on-campus housing, and meals at partner colleges, with a maximum award of $80,000 for a bachelor’s degree. Applicants must be undocumented or have DACA or TPS status and arrive in the United States before a specified date, maintaining continuous residence since then. Eligible applicants came to the United States before the age of 16 (Note: U.S. born individuals are not eligible). Applicants must demonstrate significant unmet financial need, must live in and have graduated or will graduate from a high school in a targeted locked-out state. Graduated or will graduate with a high school GPA of 2.5 or possess a cumulative college/university GPA of 2.5. Applicants must intend to relocate to and enroll full-time in a bachelor’s degree program at an Opportunity Partner College. The application opens on November 1st and the deadline is January 31st. Princeton Prize in Race Relations (PPRR) rewards high school students who, through their volunteer activities, have undertaken significant efforts to advance racial equity and understanding in their schools or communities. Each of the Princeton Prize in Race Relations recipients receives an award of $1,000 and is invited to participate in a Symposium on Race. The deadline is January 31st. Big Y Scholarship is available to high school seniors, undergraduates, graduates, community college, and non-traditional students. To be eligible, a student’s permanent residence or school must be located in Massachusetts or Connecticut, and be a Big Y employee, or their dependent. Henry David Thoreau Foundation is for $5,000. To be considered, you must reside in Massachusetts and be in your final year at a Massachusetts high school. You must also plan to enroll in college and demonstrate strong academic qualifications and a commitment to an environmental field. The deadline to apply is February 1st. More info here and here.
Roothbert Fund Scholarships are open to all in the United States. While the Fund does not emphasize any particular form of religious practice or worship, it seeks to provide support to persons motivated by spiritual values. Besides completing the application, applicants must also submit: a copy of their most recent official transcript; three recommendation letters; and three autobiographical essays. As long as the applicant is in the United States when applying, this is also open to international students. The deadline is February 1st. More information can be found here and here.
Massachusetts AFL-CIO Scholarship is for high school students pursuing trade union programs or college/university study. About 2,000 students take the exam annually to compete for scholarships ranging from $500 to $16,000. In order to be eligible for the scholarship, students must take the Labor History Exam. Applications are due December 20th by 5:00 pm to be eligible for the scholarship exam. The exam will be online and can be administered through February 4th. Read more here.
NFB of MA Scholarship is awarded on the basis of academic excellence, community service, and leadership. Applicant must be legally blind or have a visual impairment necessitating services from a teacher of the visually impaired, be a resident of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, plan to pursue a full-time, postsecondary course of study in the upcoming academic year, and have not previously received an NFBMA scholarship more than twice for the same degree. Massachusetts Tree Wardens’ & Foresters’ Association Scholarship ranges from $500 to $1500 per student. An applicant must be either a student attending an accredited college or university in Massachusetts; or a Massachusetts resident attending an accredited out-of-state college or university; or a high school senior who will be attending an accredited college or university in the fall of the application year. Red Pine Scholars Program is seeking its next class of students from low- to middle-income families in Massachusetts who have demonstrated academic excellence and are planning to attend competitive colleges as freshmen in the fall. This is a four-year, renewable scholarship of $20,000 per year to cover tuition and fees. This also provides advising and additional funding to successful applicants. The deadline is February 15th. Blue Seal Feeds Inc. Scholarship gives two $1,000 scholarships to students pursuing a four-year degree in animal science or marketing at Cornell University, Penn State University, or Virginia Tech. You must be a resident of Connecticut, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, or Virginia to be eligible. NEHRA’s Diversity & Inclusion Scholarship aims to support individuals who have demonstrated the desire, ability, and courage to contribute to a more inclusive future. Applicants must be graduating high school seniors, commitment to advancing Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, and have proven academic success and dedication to positive impact. The Dawna J Colbert & John Fitzpatrick Scholarship will award $2,500 per semester to a Black woman who will be attending a two or four-year institution. If enrolled in a 4-year institution the scholarship can amount to $10,000. Applicants must be a resident of eligible states or Washington, D.C. Please note; in order to receive their award, scholarship winners must be able to attend the Inaugural John Fitzpatrick Memorial Golf Classic in person at the Commonwealth National Golf Club in Philadelphia, PA in June. Corridor 9/495 Regional Chamber of Commerce Scholarship is for graduating high school students, pursuing a business degree or trade certification, and residing in one of the core towns of the Corridor 9/495 Regional Chamber of Commerce (Westborough, Northborough, Southborough, or Shrewsbury). The Scholarships are awarded based on academic achievement, leadership, work and/or internship experience, essay, financial need, and appearance of the application. SouthCoast Community Foundation offers a variety of scholarship awards ranging from $700-$2,000. It supports students throughout Southeastern Massachusetts. Boston Beanstalks Scholarships is offering one $500 scholarship to a graduating senior. The minimum height for females is 5’10”, males 6’2″. You must be under the age of 21 and live and attend high school in Massachusetts, Vermont, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Maine, or Connecticut. Applicants must demonstrate academic and personal achievement, involvement in clubs and activities in the school community, and involvement in clubs and activities outside the school community. Tall Clubs International Student Scholarships awards annual scholarships to deserving High School Seniors in North America (United States and Canada only). This scholarship is for students under 21 years of age, about to attend their first year of higher education, and who meet the height requirements of TCI — 5′ 10″ (178 cm) for women, and 6′ 2″ (188 cm) for men. FFC Scholarship is available to promising students born with a facial difference. High school graduates or students currently attending college who are residents of New England (Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont) are eligible to apply. Education – Teaching Scholarship starts at $500. Applicants must be a senior in a Massachusetts high school or homeschooled and have achieved the standards for graduation set by the town of residence. International Study Abroad Scholarship is starting at $500. Applicants must currently be undergraduate or graduate students who are legal residents of Massachusetts. The award must be used for a 12-credit Summer session, semester, or full-year program beginning between June 1st of the current year and February 1st of next year. The deadline to apply is March 1st. Pennies for Art Scholarship gives a minimum of $500. To be considered, applicants must be a senior in a Massachusetts high school, or home-schooled and achieved the standards for graduation set by the town of residence. You must write a personal statement and have a portfolio to demonstrate three different examples of original 2D artwork in three (3) different mediums (for example: Oils, Acrylic, Watercolor, Photography, etc) matted, not framed, not larger than 12″ by 18″ overall dimension. Women’s Italian Club of Boston Scholarship is for $1,000. To be eligible, applicants must either be (1) seniors of a Massachusetts high school or homeschooled and have achieved the standards for graduation set by the town of residence; or be (2) college sophomores or juniors majoring in Music. Greater Worcester Community Foundation awards over 350 college scholarships every spring from 130 different scholarship funds. To be eligible, you must live in Worcester County to qualify for 99% of our scholarships, enroll full-time at an accredited college or university, you may be a graduating high school senior to be eligible for 90% of our scholarships, and you may be an undergraduate college student or a high school senior to be eligible for the remaining 10% of our scholarships. Progress Software Mary Székely Scholarship is a $10,000 four-year renewable scholarship for a Massachusetts woman, including those identifying as a woman, who plan to major in computer science, software engineering, IT and/or computer information systems. The candidate must: Identify as a woman; Be a resident of Massachusetts and a U.S. citizen or permanent resident eligible for federal financial aid; Plan to major in computer science, software engineering, IT and/or computer information systems; Have a financial need; Be a high school senior or high school graduate who plans to enroll or is currently enrolled in an accredited university, college, community college or trade school; Have a cumulative high school unweighted GPA above 3.2 on a 4.0 scale (or its equivalent); Have a desire to make meaningful contributions in the fields of computer science, software engineering, IT and/or computer information systems. NIADA Foundation Regional Scholarship is for $3,500. Region I is reserved for incoming undergraduates in 16 Northeastern states, including Massachusetts. To be eligible, you must be classified as a graduating high school senior, attain academic achievement with a minimum “B” average, gain admission at accredited colleges or trade schools, and choose majors related to the motor vehicle industry. The Saab Family Foundation provides scholarships to individuals seeking to pursue private high school education or higher education in the pursuit of a two- or four-year undergraduate degree. Scholarships are awarded based on academic merit and financial need. Recipients are required to have and maintain a minimum 2.75 GPA, and be actively pursuing private high school or an undergraduate education. The deadline is March 14th. Since its inception in 1984, The Martha’s Vineyard Community Foundation has given multiple scholarships to Island students. Students of all ages are welcome to apply for scholarships towards college classes, certificate programs, graduate level programs, and other higher education or career-training educational programs. Olivia Noel Rotondo Memorial Scholarships offers 2 scholarships. The Foundation will provide $2500 to a graduating Rhode Island or Massachusetts high school cheerleader/dancer that has been accepted to a college or University. East of the River 5 Town Chamber of Commerce Scholarship promotes the attainment of higher education for graduating seniors who reside within the ERC5 footprint. The East of the River Chamber of Commerce (ERC5) includes East Longmeadow, Longmeadow, Hampden, Wilbraham, and Ludlow. A $1000.00 scholarship is awarded to two graduating seniors from each Town’s high school. To be considered, applicants must have completed at least one business-focused class during high school. Blair Family AvalonBay College Scholarship offers up to $25,000 per year to children of full-time AvalonBay associates who excel academically, are actively engaged in extracurricular and/or community activities and have substantial financial need. The Rebekah Assembly of Massachusetts Memorial Scholarship is offering a $1,000 scholarship to qualified seniors who plan to further their education by attending a two or four-year college program. The Greatrex Scholarship Program will receive a $2,500 award. This is for Bona fide residents of Foxborough, Massachusetts. Moreover, you must be a current high school senior or past recipient who plans to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university, or vocational/technical school no later than the fall following high school graduation. Each year, qualified African-American and Black junior and senior high school students participate in the Essay Contest and Issue Forum. The essay contest is open to high school juniors and seniors (grades 11 and 12) at time of submission of essay. Essay contestants must reside in a district represented by a Congressional Black Caucus Member and be a U.S. citizen/legal permanent resident. Unitil Scholarship Fund will be awarded to five high school seniors from our service territories in New Hampshire, Maine, and Massachusetts who are pursuing degrees in science, technology, engineering, or math (STEM) and will each receive $5,000 for the first year of undergraduate study. Walter S. Barr Scholarship is for $3,000. This is available to residents of Hampden County, MA who are members of the senior class at their local public or private secondary schools. Awards are based on school records, college entrance examinations, general attainments, and financial needs. The deadline is March 31st. The William R. Rooney Award provides financial assistance to students with special needs. The annual award is $3,000 for a maximum of four years. This is given to a graduating high school senior who is currently on and has been on an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or a 504 Accommodation Plan for a minimum of two years. To qualify for this award, the student must be a resident of Hampden County, Massachusetts, enrolled in an eligible high school, and must attend either a two or four-year accredited college. Westfield Bank Future Fund Scholarship Program will award seven $1,000 higher education scholarships to local graduating high school seniors. The money will help with tuition for a college, university, technical institute, or other continuing higher education program of their choice. Eligible students must live or attend high school in one of the following communities: Westfield, Springfield, Agawam, Holyoke, Southwick, East Longmeadow, or West Springfield. The MNLA Foundation for Educational Excellence “Scholarship Program” is for $1,000 and is given to high school and college students. To be eligible, applicants must major in a course of study in Horticulture and/or Landscape. They must also be a resident of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for a minimum of one year. The National Federation of the Blind currently offers over 30 $8,000 merit-based scholarships. All scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic excellence, community service, and leadership. Applicants must: be legally blind in both eyes; be a resident of the fifty states, the District of Columbia or Puerto Rico; be at least 18 by the beginning of July; be pursuing or planning to pursue a full-time, post-secondary course of study in a degree program at a U.S. institution in the fall of the year of application; and be able to participate in the entire NFB National Convention and in all of its scheduled scholarship program activities. Hearthstone Housing Foundation Scholarship awards range from $500 to $5,000 and are available to students who reside in a Hearthstone property or in the surrounding community. Applicants must: be from a low-income household or demonstrate financial need; be 15-25 years of age; be a resident of a Hearthstone Housing Foundation property or a county where a Hearthstone property is located; a full-time high school student, or a full-time undergraduate student attending a college, university, or vocational school in the United States; have at least a 3.0 GPA (if a high school student) or a 2.75 GPA (if a college student); and be available for a phone interview in May. Hope Begins Here Scholarship presents $3,500 each year to college-bound high school seniors who have lost a parent to cancer, have survived childhood cancer, or are currently battling cancer. REquipment Jennifer Baker Memorial Scholarship supports a student pursuing a career related to assistive technology and durable medical equipment who values reuse to improve the lives of individuals with disabilities and older adults. The successful candidate will be enrolled in a degree or certificate program in occupational therapy, physical therapy, adaptive technology, or a similar field. Valley Press Club Scholarship varies in amount. This is available to any high school senior from the four counties in Western Massachusetts, who has applied to college and is committed to pursuing journalism as their academic major or minor and is eligible for the Valley Press Club Scholarship. NHAB Student Broadcaster Scholarship Program provides financial assistance to New Hampshire’s students pursuing a career in broadcasting. Students who are permanent residents of New Hampshire and plan to, or are, enrolled at an accredited institution of higher learning are eligible to apply. NHAB awards $2,500 scholarships to students pursuing a career in over-the-air broadcasting, as well as a $5,000 is awarded in honor of the former President of the NHAB, Al Sprague. Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts offers a scholarship program of over 1,000 individual scholarship awards given annually to college students living in Franklin, Hampden, and Hampshire counties, providing financial assistance to their college education. The MBA Student Broadcaster Scholarship Program is for $2,500. To be considered, students must be permanent residents of Massachusetts, have declared a communications-related major, and are in the process of enrolling at an accredited institution of higher learning. Christian A. Herter Memorial Scholarship Program provides financial assistance to twenty-five Commonwealth of Massachusetts students who demonstrate academic promise and aspiration for higher education. Awards are based on a student’s college cost of attendance, demonstrated need, and the level of funding for the program. Scholarships are awarded for a maximum of four years. Kids’ Chance of Massachusetts is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides scholarships for children of workers that have been killed or seriously injured in a compensable work-related accident or occupational disease. SENEDIA STEM Scholarship is available to students enrolled in a science, technology, engineering, or math field with the potential to support the future national security and defense sector workforce. Washington State University offers the Western Undergraduate Exchange and Cougar Awards to incoming, out-of-state students. University of South Carolina Alumni Scholars Award (Nonresidents) offers a generous array of scholarships for non- South Carolina resident freshmen. Only one Admissions Merit Award per individual is allowed for nonresidents, with the exception of the Provost Scholars Award, which can be added to any other award listed in this section. Francis Ouimet Scholarship Fund awards range from $1,500 to $15,000 per year, depending on financial need and ranking in our competitive evaluation process. To be eligible for a Ouimet Scholarship applicants must have completed at least two years service to golf as caddies, helpers in the pro shop, or course superintendent operations at a club in Massachusetts. University of Kentucky Bluegrass Spirit Awards offers renewable academic, competitive and selective scholarship opportunities for incoming first-time freshmen. Young Woman in Public Affairs Award is for college-bound young women between the ages of 16-19. This is in the amount of $500 with the chance for an additional $500 and $1,000. To be eligible, they must be residents of Belchertown, the Brookfields, Hardwick, Holland, Ludlow, Monson, New Braintree, Palmer, Spencer, Wales, Ware, Warren, or Wilbraham. This award has been created to recognize a graduating senior for strongly demonstrated leadership and creativity in serving his or her community through the student’s talents in visual art, drama, music, dance, or literature. The amount of the award is $500, and there may be more than one award, to be determined by the jury.
